If you're old enough to recall the Xbox 360 days, you probably remember the Xbox Live Indie title, "I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1". Yes, as crude as the name might be, this game ended up proving extremely popular.
Now, developer Obscure Gameworks has decided to remaster the 2009 "Top Xbox Live Indie Game", featuring improved visuals and an updated version of the game's engine, although it's said to play "exactly as you remember it":
"Revived and back from the dead is Ska Studio's 2009 Xbox 360 Indie Game classic, 'I Made a Game with Zombies in It!' Running on an updated version of the game's original engine and code, along with upscaled visuals and improved fidelity this is Z0mbies exactly as you remember it, modernized for the Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
Play solo or with up to 3 other friends in couch co-op and see if you can survive. Contains 7 different unique weapons and multiple different phases with different enemies."
As we mentioned, the game is totally free to download on the Xbox Store right now, although the catch is that it doesn't include achievements. Nevertheless, the few impressions we've seen so far have been very praiseworthy of this remaster, with every review on the Microsoft Store giving it a five-star rating over the past few days.
You can download Z0mb1es! Remastered below, as well as check out a couple more screenshots:

Awesome little game. Ska Studios would then go on to make The Dishwasher games, Charlie Murder and Salt & Sanctuary. A top little indie dev that makes great games.
I remember this game, the song, and that it was only a dollar (states it in the theme song). I wonder if they have updated the song to say it's now free? haha
You'll need to clear out some space on your hard drives to fit the 245MB, though.
i looked at the screenshot and the song immediately started ringing full blast in my head
This was a great game.
As a side note: Anyone else miss the Deathspank series? I loved that series back in the xbla days. Only the second one is backwards compatible which is disappointing.
@xMightyMatt14x me. Deathspank was brilliant always hoped for more. I'll happy buy them again, a new trilogy would be nice too
@xMightyMatt14x 2 more games they could easily make backwards compatible when they say they're none left.
I didn't know you could release a game on Xbox without achievements. 😯
