Last week, we provided an update on the progress of Insignia, which is a replacement service for Xbox Live 1.0 on the original Xbox. Now, signups for the beta are finally available, with the playtest set to begin on November 15th, 2022.
To get involved, you'll need to head to the Insignia website and request an invitation by entering your email address, and this will be followed up shortly with a "Setup Assistant Tool" to help you register your console for the service.
"Insignia can now confirm our closed beta will start on Tuesday, 15 November 2022. Our website is now ready to accept registrations, and invites will be randomly sent out to users."
"Our Setup Assistant tool will be coming soon to allow users to register their consoles before (and during) the closed beta period. Please register your console early to avoid any delays if you need to change your configuration to connect. You do not need a code to do this."
To use Insignia, you will need to have access to an original Xbox console, and 17 games will be available to test at launch, including the likes of Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Crimson Skies, Phantasy Star Online and others.
Obviously, this isn't an official service provided by Microsoft, but nevertheless it looks like it's shaping up to be a fantastic replacement for Xbox Live 1.0, which originally shut down back in 2010. We can't wait to give this a try for ourselves!
Will you be signing up to try Insignia? Let us know down in the comments section below.

I've already signed up. This is a service I've had my eye on since I saw a video about it a while back. I'd gladly even pay a few quid a month to have the service up and running again. I can't wait to play!
This is going to be awesome. Guess I'm going to the local shops to find a few more of these launch games then set up my Xbox this weekend. Can't wait to play with this new community!
Thanks for the news alert! I signed up as well
Looking forward to this next year when I get my Xbox!
Would anyone be able to inform me if this service would work with pirated games?
