Xbox exclusive Pentiment continues to fly under the radar a little considering it's out next month, but things seem to be going well behind the scenes. Xbox Exec Aaron Greenberg says the team is currently working on a Pentiment launch trailer, and that the game is "shaping up well" for its November launch.
Back in August, we previewed Obsidian's unique-looking murder mystery, and came away impressed by the amount of detail the team has managed to pack in here. It's a bit atypical for an Obsidian game, but that hasn't dampened our excitement at all.
As we say though, it does feel like Pentiment is going somewhat unnoticed at the minute in the world of Xbox. If you don't know too much about it, here's a quick dev breakdown:
• An Illustrated World. Experience 16th century Europe as the master artists of the time saw them. Art inspired by great illuminated manuscripts and the earliest printed books becomes a living, breathing world.
• Uncover Mysteries and Scandal. Meet a colorful cast of characters as you discover the stories and secrets that lie within the small Bavarian town of Tassing and nearby Keirsau Abbey.
• Play Your Way. Each decision you make can have a profound impact on the community’s future. Find your own way through this turbulent time and see the consequences of your choices play out over generations.
Will you be playing Pentiment when it hits Xbox Game Pass next month? Let us know!

It looks interesting, and hopefully I'll have some time to give it a go when it's released.
I know this might be weird to say but I'm looking forward to this more than I am to God of War Ragnarök. Getting old I guess....😅
Pre-ordered ready for the day. Can't wait to try it out.
@theskelf Gounded and Pentiment are fairly small scale. Grounded started with a team of like 12 people and pentiment was made with 13 people. Outerworlds 2 is probably in extremely early stages/pre production, so it doesn't use many resources yet.
@BRT15 you mean you’re looking forward to something that looks new and interesting over a game that will be very similar to its predecessor!?
You are getting old 😉
Pentiment caught my eye at the showcase. I’m not even sure what the game involves or how it plays, but I will definitely be playing it.
@BRT15 Same here and I am in my 30's GOW just doesn't interest me at all.
I'm definitely looking forward to it. I imagine persona 5 is gonna take me a while so already planning on a break from it with pentiment
@Fenbops I'll be totally honest with you mate, I started playing Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 a few weeks back, and whilst the game is absolutely beautiful with he world being fantastic, it is an absolute bloated mess of a game. So many unnecessary additions to the game that make it sooo complicated. Also the map is cluttered with map markers nigh on approaching Ubisoft territory.
So give me a fresh new indie styled game. That's my jam nowadays.
Just started playing Tinykin and am having a real blast there.
Also Obsidian games are usually fantastic.
@BRT15 I’m with you. I thought HZD was good, not great, and fully intended to play HFW but I can’t bring myself to play it. For all its good looks it just looks like the same game with some minor gameplay additions and more bloat. The game is as Ubisoft as they come imo.
Scorn is out Friday, it’s new and looks interesting, I’ll take that.
