Apple Music Xbox

Apple Music has appeared on the Xbox Store, more than two years after the application was found in the Xbox backend by well-known leaker ALumia_Italia. There's been no official announcement from Apple or Microsoft on this as far as we're aware, but it's live and working for Apple Music subscribers.

Apple Music is a subscription-based music service, so there's no free playback option here. If you are a subscriber though, or if you're looking for a new paid music sub, this finally provides an alternative to Spotify on Xbox. Plus, there's a free one-month trial for new members (in the UK at least) if you fancy trying it out.

We haven't tested out the application too thoroughly just yet, but it seems to be going down very well with Apple Music subscribers on Reddit, who are happy to see another music option finally arrive on Xbox.

Here are some Apple Music features, straight from the store page description:

  • Stream millions of songs while you game, all ad-free.
  • Enjoy music videos on your big screen and check out curated music video playlists.
  • Follow along to your favorite songs with time-synced lyrics.
  • Create your own playlists or get personalized mixes and top picks based on the music you love in Listen Now.
  • Explore all-new stations, featuring dozens of exclusive shows created by the most iconic names in music. Available live or on demand.
  • Search for music by lyrics right in the app.
  • Enjoy our Music editors’ picks with curated playlists for gaming and more.
  • New members get one month free.
