Xbox Games With Gold For October 2022 Announced

I was hoping for a bit more considering we’re getting less games and no more legacy titles. PS Plus games still seem a lot stronger imo. I’ll check out Windbound but neither title is really doing much for me.

If anyone has played or heard good things about these two titles, please let me know. These are the first times I’ve heard of them.

Windbound sounds interesting enough, other than that, thought we'd have had maybe 3 games or a Series S/X game.

GamePass is firing on all cylinders. Game With Gold is a dumpster fire. Might as well put it out of its misery and kill the whole program.

You would have thought that for the first month they might have thrown us a few bones. Personally, I would have preferred a few 360 games I didn't have.

@DeathByLasagna Windbound is just a 5/10 type of game. It's quite generic, i have it on the Switch.

The other game I hae only heard great things but how come we're only having 2 games now? Its like Microsoft are weaing us off this to get rid of entirely.

They can't just offer 4 X1 games instead.

While I predicted this would happen, not a fan of that actually coming true. Lol

It just embarrassing at this point compared with the rival service, but it doesn't look like they can see those optics. Its a real shame as it really does not reflect the value of the better GP offering.

I know they said they went through all the 360 titles they possibly could have given out, but I’d rather they restarted going through them again for those who may have missed them from the start. At least it would be a bit more to offer from the service.

That is one poor offering, no way around that. Gold has ran it's course, just merge 2-4 more older games into GP monthly and call it a day.

Can't say I'm surprised at all - they tried putting the Price up and received Backlash and now they have cut 'legacy' (360/OG) Xbox games - which were very limited in choice as they also had to be part of the BC collection - thus effectively decreasing their costs.

If I didn't 'need' Gold to access the Content I have 'paid' for to play, then I wouldn't have bothered at all for the past few years or so. However, its incorporated into Game Pass Ultimate which has far more 'benefits' to me as someone with a PC too and streaming options that I stopped 'caring' about what games Gold offered as I have plenty of games added to GP to play every month that I don't get upset if Gold games are not to my taste...

@EvilSilentFrame That's a good idea but then some people would complain about repeated games, it has happened before. As you said, it's better to repeat than no more free games!

There are a few games that could have been made backwards compatible, e.g., Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing.

I am not complaining because I see Gold as a way to get full online services on good servers and a cheap access to Game Pass Ultimate, but I would understand getting rid of it and offering a few more Game Pass tiers (Cloud, Console, PC, Ultimate...).

I'm disappointed by this given it's gone to 2 games the quality has not improved.

Own both already.

Er... Okay... Not quite what I was expecting... As a long time GWG advocate (mainly for the 360 portion) this kind of sucks.

By next month it will be an Xbox port of the animal stroking trophy games from PS.

The only reason they can't kill Gold is that its inclusion is part of the value of GPU, so they have to keep Gold going even if it's pointless to improve the value image of GPU. But it sure looks awful when this happens.

@Banjo- yeah, some games repeated already and there was some complaining… I just figured if they let everybody know why they were repeating, maybe there might be a little less complaining.

I agree there were more that could have been made backwards compatible, but I think a lot of it had to do with licensing issues. There’s so many games they could have done. I’m hoping they surprise us again and deliver another large batch of games, but I think that ship has sailed.

Getting rid of Gold and adding some new tiers is a good idea. I wonder what’s stopping them from getting rid of Gold already.

There was no reason or need to kill off the 360 games. Gamers should smarten up and stop demanding less for what they pay for from these multibillion dollar firms that, at the end of the day, are not your friend.

Good time to get a series s in the UK if you like FIFA 23. It’s free with the console.
Series x with FIFA 23 is £500. Makes the Game £50.

Not sure why the bundle with the PS5 disc console and FIFA 23. The game works out £60.

Then again Smyths toys normally do very good Xbox deals, not sure if it is an American company.

Same. I used to play a lot of NBA 2K and PES but not anymore. Racing games is a different story 😉 Forza Horizon and Motorsport still a major part of my gaming sessions.

@EvilSilentFrame I agree. An explanation would stop the complaints about repeated games. I still wonder why did Sega release Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed but not Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. I wanted to get that one as well, that includes Banjo-Kazooie as playable character and it's higher resolution than the Wii version.

Offering more Game Pass tiers and getting rid of Gold would focus the marketing conveniently 👍🏻.

We have reached a point where online could become completely free and that would benefit the player base from a developer's point of view and would attract PS and Switch players, even PC players, to the Xbox store and Game Pass subscriptions. Most Deals with Gold have become Deals for Everyone (602 this week) and Games with Gold have become a two-game selection that don't represent the value of gaming on Xbox.

They are free. By this point with all the sales and with gamepass (if you're subscribed ) it doesn't really matter what they offer. Just think that a lot of people have an entitled complex.

When online started , it cost money and no games for free were on the table.

Games With Gold started in July 2013 after Don Mattrick nosedived the Xbox brand into oblivion with the XB1 reveal and E3 2013 making things worse with the infamous "buy a 360" answer to those who don't have internet access 24/7.

Given the state of Games With Gold now, I wouldn't be surprised if June 2023 is the last batch of games.
