Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has been getting quite a lot of attention since its Xbox Game Pass announcement, and rightly so. It's looking bloody good so far ahead of a 2023 launch, with Team Ninja at the helm. While it's great to see such a partnership between the Japanese dev and Xbox, it's looking like we won't see one of the team's previous titles come to Xbox anytime soon.
In a recent Gamescom 2022 interview with VGC, Team Ninja told the outlet that PlayStation exclusive Nioh isn't coming to Xbox platforms anytime soon, if ever.
There’s nothing really to note about that. Currently, there’s not really too much of a possibility of having Nioh on Xbox platforms, but we do hope Xbox fans enjoy Wo Long and look forward to that game coming out. That’s probably all we can say on that at the moment.
Elsewhere in VGC's extensive interview, the devs spoke about the team's relationship with Xbox as Fallen Dynasty heads to Game Pass, along with how well the Xbox brand is performing in Japan. It's certainly worth a read if you're interested in what Team Ninja is doing with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty!
Are you bummed that Nioh isn't coming to Xbox? Or are you satisfied with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on Game Pass? Let us know down below.

Shame for Xbox fans. Nioh 1+2 are sole reasons to own a PS4. Games so good that even the average Sony fan hasn't played them after looking at Push Square's Top 50 PS4 games.
The reason I'm so excited about Wo Long is because of just how good Nioh was.
Nioh 2 is definitely a miss... It is an amazing game....
Sony owns the Nioh IP just like how they own bloodbourne, beyond two souls, detroit become human, heavy rain and death stranding.
It’s up to sony, not team ninja/koei tecmo.
xbox should have counter what sony did by locking Wo long to xbox, but they didn't. and after nioh, sony also locking RONIN
well, at least Atelier series is not locked. wonder when they will release it for xbox
It was Sony funded right ? Not exactly shocking they don't want it on Xbox lol
@SplooshDmg I don't think they own the IP but I do think they partly funded the development like Microsoft did with dead rising 3
Nioh 1 but especially 2 are great games and play well on the ps5
Can’t happen unless Sony is ok with it
@darkswabber @Would_you_kindly Sony don't own Nioh at all. In Japan the game was a developed & published Koei Tecmo game. It was purely for the west that Sony had publishing duties.
I suspect the real reason for the lack of an Xbox version is that the games are several years old now and it doesn't make financial sense.
@pip_muzz you can say that again, the Nioh games are so frickin great.
Shame they're not porting it but I don't think it would make any financial sense yeah
I tried Nioh via the Nioh Collection on PS5. I got to maybe like Chapter 3 or 4, but it just didn't hold my interest. I finally stopped playing because it felt more like a chore than anything else.
@SplooshDmg i understand the PC version was self published
Sony: Buying exclusives is fine when we do it.
@Retron
I've got PC and Xbox, who needs Sony...
Jim Crying can jump on his two legs and cry - It's hurting gamers! it's hurting gamers! =]
@SplooshDmg
I wounder how much it cost, to buy that kind of rights from japanese to japanese)
These devs never just say no. It's always "we have no plans" or "we have nothing to say about that" or something in that vain.
Loved the gameplay of the demo but the personal pronoun option left a sour taste. Seemed inappropriate.
I quite enjoyed Stranger of Paradise too, even more perhaps. A lot of new ideas in this style of game there that were cool in my opinion.
