Update (Wed 9th Nov, 2022): We've now got an official date and a new trailer! Tales of Symphonia Remastered will officially arrive on Xbox on February 17th, 2023, and you can get a fresh look in the video above.
Original story (Tue 13th Sep, 2022): Bandai Namco's classic JPRG, Tales of Symphonia, which first released on Nintendo's GameCube all the way back in 2003, is headed to Xbox consoles in the first quarter of 2023.
Yes, as revealed in today's Nintendo Direct, the adventures of Lloyd, Colette and Co. will land on Switch, PlayStation and Xbox in the early part of next year in a shiny new remastered version that includes HD visual enhancements, "new features", and a plethora of gameplay improvements.
This isn't the first time the game's received a makeover, with a high-definition version, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, released in 2013 for PlayStation consoles, but this is the first time we'll see the game hit Microsoft's consoles. Good news for fans of the Tales franchise.
A fancy metal case version of the game, The Chosen Edition is now up for pre-order over at the official Bandai Namco website.
Will you be picking up Tales of Symphonia Remastered when it lands next year? Let us know below!

Really glad Bandai Namco is releasing these regularly on Xbox now
I played it on GameCube. Gameplay is fun and the story is a bit slow but well-developed. I think that the remaster will be nice, then. I'm glad to see Bandai Namco supporting Xbox!
Good to see more of these games coming to Xbox, I hope the coming week we'll get more newsof Japanese games coming to Xbox. We're getting there
I’ve never played a Tales game before.
If I ever get to it, which game should I begin with; Symphonia, Vesperia or Arise?
We’re getting physicals for this to I think
@JoakimZ in that order. If you start with vesperia or arise you may find it hard to go back to symphonia. play this remaster, then do Vesperia Remaster and then Arise. You will NOT be disappointed.
Bandai Namco supporting the xbox is a thing of beauty. Would love for them to be part of the xbox family but getting all their games is good enough for me. As a HUGE Tales fan, I have never played this one. I'll gladly jump in.
I loved this game on Gamecube, but MAN it hasn't aged well graphically.
Good thing the story-telling, soundtrack, and gameplay make up for it! This game is a classic!
Steelbook is here

Willing to bet it is just going to be the higher res version that been on PC for ages now.
@Royalblues Once I played Tales of Vesperia on a whim way back in 2009 i believe it was on the 360, i was absolutely hooked. I played Tales of Xillia 1 and 2 after that (first one was GREAT)! Played Symphonia Dawn of the New World on Wii (loved it) Then Abyss on the 3ds (another fantastic game), couldn't get into Zesteria or Bersaria, then played the Vesperia Remaster and finally LOVES Arise last year.
It has taken the crown of my favorite JRPG franchise since Final Fantasy has never been the same since Sakaguchi left, and seeing Bamco show the love for the Xbox platform now with their releases is a thing of beauty!
So bamco wants me to play this for an 8th time?! How about 10 times instead?
@BBB normally I would agree but I think it’s the Nintendo release schedule dictating this one.
@J_Mo_Money why is the answer for xbox to buy them? Also why would bandai sell to microsoft then lose like 90% of players between switch and PS?
This looks great, and I'm glad to see XB support...but...a port of a GC game is definitely the type of thing Switch is ideal for, so I'll have to go Switch with this one.
Who am I kidding, I still need to get back to Soul Hackers 2 that I barely started.... and I need to start P5R.... not sure if I should cram it on XB ffor the 60hz version while it's on GP or just play the PS4 version I already own though.
@NEStalgia it's based on the ps3 version
@Rmg0731 answer to what? Didn’t realize there was a question. Thinking you’re reading too much into things, chief.
YESSSSSSSS day 1
