Would have made a nice game pass day one entry.
That does LOOK lovely. Hopefully they nailed the feel of the game and the sound, or lack thereof sometimes, of the USG Ishimura.
Looking forward to it.
Looks sweet but with Callisto Protocol dropping in December I'd rather buy that and wait for this to hit GPU/EAPlay sometime in the summer.
Hope this is a success so we get the others remade as well. Has anyone watched the animated movie? If so, any good?
@UltimateOtaku91
I watched both, Downfall and Aftermath. Downfall is great and I highly recommend it. It makes for a great prologue to the game. Aftermath is not as good, but still worth watching if you're a fan of the series.
Loved Dead Space, gonna wait till it drops in EA play because ... reasons ...
Personally, I am really looking forward to Dead Space more than the Callisto Protocol. It was a Superb game and the fact that its now been enhanced, expanded and updated makes me more excited to revisit the Ishimura...
The last Callisto Protocol video disappointed me a bit - the combat looked very clunky and unpolished and I wasn't impressed by the 'water slide' and Cut-scene death ripped right out of 2013 Tomb Raider 'on rails' sequences. I know its got Glenn Schofield at the helm, but that doesn't mean he has the team, resources and budget to compete with this. They don't have a track record yet so there are more unknowns with this. Not saying it won't be as good but I know Dead Space was great and EA Motive have a track record too (although so does EA and that's not a positive LOL)
If both were to release today, I'd be more inclined (based on what I have seen and heard to date) to buy Dead Space first and wait for my next paycheck or a sale to buy Callisto...
The first time these games came around I didn’t play them. They never appealed to me. After seeing how much everybody loves them, I think I’ll try this one out this time.
Whilst I wasn’t a fan of the third game, I thought the first two were brilliant. Will definitely be picking this up at launch (and, yes, same for Callisto!).
Cool I guess, but did this really need to be remade?
Callisto Protocol killed the hype for Dead Space Remake. Most people will get that
Looks like this and Fire Emblem are my January games.
Love Dead Space 1 & 2. Was hyped for 3 until it got to the micro transaction part and I just quit and never came back.
If this is as good as the Resident Evil 2 remake it’ll be superb. I wonder if they’ll make any changes to the story or just minor changes like in RE2? Hopefully not too much so veterans can enjoy the game they loved with modern features whilst a new generation get to see what was so special about the original in the first place.
@BAMozzy I think Callisto Protocol was a chance to make a new IP, that was a spiritual follow-up to DS but also a little more than that and maybe a bit different. But Callisto Protocol is just a rebranded Dead Space game. And DS itself was heavily borrowing from Alien (which is a great thing to inspire from).
@BrilliantBill I'm well aware the Callisto Protocol is a Spiritual Successor and had to be a 'new' IP because Glenn Schofield (and his new Studio) do not own the rights to Dead Space so he was never going to make a 'new' Dead Space but of course can make another 'similar' game - much like Playtronic, ex-Rare employees and the 'creator' of Banjo-Kazooie, made Yooka-Laylee.
That doesn't mean that this 'new' studio will deliver an Experience to eclipse Dead Space (let alone an Expanded Remake). Doesn't mean that they had the time, resources etc to refine and polish that experience. Doesn't mean that the things they 'add/change' are a positive or that story, world building, characters etc are as interesting etc.
Before I heard that DS was being remade, I was very interested in the Callisto Protocol - still am. However, after watching and seeing DS development and evolution videos and then seeing the CP game-play video, I was less enthusiastic towards CP. The combat in that 'room' with environmental opportunities seemed 'clunky' and the 'pipe chute' sequence that followed gave me 'deja vu' from numerous Tomb Raider sequences that ended with 'success' or a Cut Scene of a Brutal Death.
I want to play both - but right now, I'm more excited for DS. It was one of my favourite new IP's from that generation and was severely disappointed by EA's handling of it by the 3rd installment so I hope that they have learned from this and we see DS 'return' - not just with this remake, but we get 'new' DS games in the future too.
