You might recall that we've been highlighting lots of PC-based Bethesda classics on multiple occasions over the past couple of months, due to them being tested by Xbox Insiders ahead of their release on the Microsoft Store. Well, what we expected has come true, as the majority are being added to PC Game Pass today, August 18th!
This is in celebration of QuakeCon 2022, which gets underway this afternoon.
Here's the list of games that are being added to PC Game Pass today:
- An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire
- Quake Champions (Free game, but extra Game Pass content)
- Quake 4
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein
- The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard
- Wolfenstein 3D
In addition to these, The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall have also been added to the Microsoft Store along with Quake Champions — all of these are free to play regardless of whether you have Game Pass or not.
And finally, Heretic: Serpent Riders, Hexen: Beyond Heretic and Hexen: Deathkings have joined the Microsoft Store too, although these aren't included with Game Pass. Instead, they're on sale to celebrate the event right now.
Happy with these additions? Let us know down in the comments section below.

Some of these games came to OG Xbox/Xbox 360 but weren't added to backwards compatibility. How is this fair?
No no no...it's bad enough quake 2 not being on Xbox - but Q4 and RtCW as well?? What the hell are Microsoft, Bethesda etc playing at 😒
Hmm nothing of interest for me.
Was hoping Quake 4 be ported to Series X
@Grumblevolcano not all games emulate well unfortunately especially og Xbox games I wish Microsoft owned the ps1 & PS2 because while Sony really doesnt seem to give a s*** about their legacy content I'm sure Microsoft would've added a lot of games like they did with the Xbox 360 games
Why does Pure “XBOX” post so many PC stories???
@sjbsixpack because xbox has a major PC presence and will continue to expand there in the future. Game Pass on PC is great.
@Somebody that it may be but this is pure Xbox. Not Pure Xbox/PC. I’m pretty sure PC gamer pages will cover this. For PC gamers. If Game Pass ever came to Playstation, not that it will, but IF, would this page post Playstation news?
@sjbsixpack The Xbox brand now encompasses console, PC and Cloud Gaming, so we feel obliged to cover all three, especially when it relates to new games being added to Game Pass.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can play PC Game Pass games as part of their subscription, so we wouldn't want to avoid those titles just because the majority are potentially more interested in console stuff.
@sjbsixpack yes they would because game pass is xbox. They would and should post about game pass on all cases.
Hopefully these can be ported to modern Xbox consoles someday...
@sjbsixpack boot up a PC and tell me what the launcher for games bought on the Microsoft Store is called.
Go on, we'll wait.
bcc xboxxxxxxxx
@Markatron84 tell me wat this page is called??? I’ll wait too.
@sjbsixpack I think maybe my last comment went over your head somewhat.
@Markatron84 i think my original comment went over yours. This is an “XBOX” page!!! Not a PC page. Not a Game Pass page. If PC Game Pass gets Playstation and Nintendo exclusives i don’t care. If i do i’ll read about it on a PC or Game Pass page. When Game Pass becomes available on Samsung TV’s will we get Samsung stories?
@sjbsixpack No, it really didn't.
The launcher on PC that handles PC games purchased through Microsoft Store, along with PC Game Pass games and Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC is simply titled... Xbox.
By all means, die on this hill, but you're just making yourself look foolish now.
@Markatron84 so because a PC has an advert for an Xbox??? Lets hope they don’t start advertising Oxo!!! 😂😂😂
@sjbsixpack Yeah, I'll just point you towards the last sentence of my last comment and leave it there, I think.
If you're really dead set on having a ridiculous arguement (even though it's stupid and you're obviously wrong) perhaps you could find a website dedicated to it l, since that's your mindset? I on the other hand will just carry on playing games on my PC through the XBOX app; and whenever I do so, I'll think of you and roll my eyes.
Wonder why Hexen and Heretic are not being added to GamePass.
@Tharsman could be that there are still conflicting licencing issues. Didn't Activision used to publish a lot of id Software games/IP's on console? Maybe there's still a bit of red tape to go through there, at least until the buyout is approved.
@Markatron84 i bet you were a nightmare for teachers at school!! You just don’t listen!! Xbox page - Xbox news. Game Pass page - Game Pass news. PC page - PC news.
Ya get me yet??? 🤯🤯🤯🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
