The Steam Deck was released some time ago now, but people are still putting it to the test with all sorts of retro video games and emulators.
Youtube channel Modern Vintage Gamer previously investigated OG Xbox emulation running Valve's system, and now he's back with Xbox 360. The Xenia Canary emulator just got a "massive" update - offering up some performance improvements.
Using Xenia on the SteamDeck, he confirms it all runs pretty nicely - you can take a look at games such as Burnout, Fable 2 and Forza Horizon 2. Even Perfect Dark Zero gets some love:
MVG sums up the whole experience of having Xbox 360 games running on the Steam Deck as "just amazing to see" and he intends to continue to cover future improvements.
If you're looking for a more official Xbox experience on the Steam Deck, you can always check out the 10+ supported Xbox Game Studios titles via Steam. This includes Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon series and more. You can also enjoy Xbox Cloud Gaming on the Steam Deck.

Steam Deck gets more enticing by the day. If only I had a spare £300-400 lying around 🤣
I would love one. Sadly selling a kidney isn't an option. My son's kidneys on the other hand... eBay or Facebook marketplace here I come.
My pc is pretty crap by today's standards & it emulates Xbox 360 games very well so I know the steam deck would have no problem with it
Xbox 360 emulation used to be extremely bad until last week. Glad that massive update happened. I don’t emulate myself as I don’t play on pc but I’m glad it works. Would love to play Forza Horizon 2 and 3 with the dlc which should be possible through emulation.
My dream handheld would be a Steam Deck that can run an Xbox app that lets me play everything in my library.
Not emulating on the deck, but enjoying SoD2 and sunset overdrive. Either aren't verified, but play perfectly well at high settings.
I have no urge to play anything emulated other than SNES / GENESIS / MAME.
Maybe it's because i grew up with those consoles and arcade period, but everything else just seems bad and boring.
Early 3d games don't age well and are boring af if you ask me.
The 360 was amazing in it's time, but even now it looks bad and there's nothing on it that modern consoles don't do better.
Same goes for PS 1 / 2 / 3.
@Beermonkey you can always make more 👍
Received my steam deck last week. Loaded it up with emulator's for Nintendo and PS1 ect. Main use though is for playstation exclusives on pc.
