Rare has been quite busy over the past week with the launch of Sea of Thieves Season Seven, but that's not all it's been up to. It turns out the UK developer has also been busy entertaining the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer.
In a brief post via social media, the official Rare Twitter revealed how it had been hosting Phil for the first time in four years. The message mentions how he caught up with the teams, but it wasn't mentioned exactly what he got up to. Surely, at least one of the screens has something to do with Everwild.
Some Rare employees, including studio head Craig Duncan, shared some extra insight on social media:
If you've not tried out the new Sea of Thieves update yet, it includes new personalisation options, a milestone progression system, ship loadout saving, sovereign and shipwright perks, 100 levels of season rewards, an emporium refresh and the ability to buy and name ships.
As for Everwild, there have been mixed reports about the game over the past year - with claims the team is still figuring things, and that it will also feature a large-scale multiplayer world.
Have you tried out the new Sea of Thieves update yet? What do you think Phil was up to at Rare? Leave a comment below.

Ha, that first pic - talk about a look that doesn’t really fill you with confidence. Hopefully whatever he was just shown wasn’t Xbox related!
What is Phil looking at?
Definitely not a nearly finished AAA Xbox studio game for sure 😂
This is a point though, first time in 4 years.
If not Phil, other XBOX studio game management should be getting out more and micro managing their studios.
Xbox studios can’t produce as a business or company now, let alone when they get even more studios.
I’m live in UK, would have loved to have sat down with Phil and had an hour on Xbox questions and answers with him.
Would have not kind but professional.
That first picture:
"You're telling me there are still no private servers in Sea of Thieves?"
@Kaloudz
Perhaps they give their developers etc a lot of freedom.
But I know from the aerospace industry we have to give the design team deadlines and micro management else we would never get to the manufacturing part of the product, that makes the company the money.
Even then the designers are close or little late.
Cool to see Phil out and about hanging with the team. Hopefully we can get an update on Everwild early next year.
Rare and thus Phil probably don't have a clue what they are looking at. Not expecting anything decent from Rare. If Rare don't deliver a solid & enjoyable next game shut them down please.
He's looking at a board full of scribbled post-it notes, that make up the entirety of development on Everwild.
Probably.
@Kaloudz Generally it should be like this, but again when a franchise puts out content like clockwork (CoD, Asassins Creed), people keep saying that yearly releases dilute innovation and creativity, so go figure.
Either make the game FTP or Offline Single Player. Pick one. Tired of this wanna-be WoW MMO only style with box price, micros AND forced online paywall sub XBL just to get in and then deal with a pile of trolls in game. Rare taking this Pirate theme way too personally. They wants all the monies.
@Eejay sadly they started with this "game" in 2016 and somehow they still have zero clue of what it is going to be, people tend to praise to much for sea of thieves but has everybody forgot how that games was at launch? Rare really worked only on 2 boats, some empty islands, and repetitive missions
Everwild seems thats gonna be even worst, I really hope they cancel the title and change rare into sea of thieves studios or something, because thats the only thing they do besides milking their old ips with merchandise
