The final Xbox Game Pass addition of July 2022 has arrived today in the form of INSIDE, and if you've played this one before, you'll know that we're definitely finishing off strong with one of the Xbox One's highest-rated games!
Developed by the same team behind the equally excellent LIMBO, the game is a 2D-style platformer that we don't want to spoil too much for you, but rest assured it's worth a download on Game Pass if you're even the least bit interested.
Discover Playdead's unique indie adventure game Inside, a dark, narrative-driven platformer combining intense action with challenging puzzles. It has received critical acclaim for its moody art style, ambient soundtrack and unsettling atmosphere.
INSIDE is sixth on the list of Metacritic's highest-rated Xbox One games, sitting on an incredible 93 average rating, and although Pure Xbox was on hiatus at the time of its release, our sister site Push Square gave it an "Outstanding" 10/10 rating back in 2016, calling it "the new benchmark" for puzzle-platform games.
"The true genius of Inside is in the feeling that it left us with once it was all over. This is a game that will probably stay in your thoughts for days once you've finished it."
Will you be downloading INSIDE with Xbox Game Pass? Let us know down in the comments below.

If you haven't played it yet, play it now.
If you have played it, play it again
Only behind Braid for me in this genre.
BTW what happened to that remaster?
One of my favourite games of all time. Don't look up too much before playing this as it's better to go in blind. If you weren't so keen on Limbo this game is significantly better than that one as well.
@Royalblues No worries. Always nice to share this hobby we love
About 3-5 hours. Source: How Long to Beat
Inside is fantastic. My recommendation is to go in blind and finish it in one sitting.
@themightyant how long to beat is a site i go to almost every time a new game comes out. If I see anything creeping in the 60+ hours for main story I usually stay away these days, just don't have the time for those super long games. Having been somewhat interested in Xenoblade 3, I saw the length and was like "yeah ... nope!"
@Royalblues There's a website (or app) for everything!!! lol
But yes HLTB is very useful.
@J_Mo_Money Me too mate. My backlog is mostly games that are 40 hours + especially as I know i'm slow and veer towards a completionist mentality. Anything HLTB says I add 20%. I don't say nope, but it does make me far more picky.
Though there are exceptions and I do have Xenoblade 3 in my hand right now. lol. There goes the next several months.
Amazing game. It’s a shame the team at play dead fractured after this. I’m so looking forward to Somerville though. Really hope that comes out this year!!
@themightyant I have noticed that for JRPS (especially ones from a generation or 2 older than current) I'm usually a little faster than HLTB since for some reason I play the main story at a faster pace and usually might be under-leveled for some fights.
@J_Mo_Money Teach me Sensei! lol
If it's anything like all the other games in the series then Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is going to take me over 200 hours again. I literally had to delete the last one or i'd probably still be playing.
im sorry i found inside boring and tedious and when i finished it i thought is that it? thats the game that was up for game of the year? i didnt find anything in it worthy of such praise.
the only thing i got out of it was gamerscore
@themightyant I had a tough time even getting through witcher 3 because it was so long, i think thats the game that made me dread those long games, why I prefer the classic SNES final fantasy games/chrono trigger etc. 20-30 hours was the perfect length. Bethesda games are also ideal for me now because you can run through the story or make it as long as you want with all the side quests.
I have it on Switch and played it years ago, but not on an OLED screen. Mabey I'll download it on my Series X and play it on my LG C1 OLED. I'm sure getting all the achievements will be easy, right?
Haven't played it before, I'll definitely install it later and try it out..
Unity and wildland and vahalla
I played and loved this on Switch a few months back. I'm looking forward to 2nd playthrough on Xbox with higher resolution, image quality and frame rate.
As many have said it’s a must play. And Limbo of course which I think is on game pass too.
