Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (not the 2009 one) launches October 28th this year, with long-time developer Infinity Ward at the helm once again in 2022. Recently, publisher Activision confirmed that a beta would precede the game's launch, and thanks to a new leak, we may now know when it's coming to Xbox!
Prominent Call of Duty leaker Ralph has revealed all of the upcoming beta dates for Modern Warfare 2. We must stress that these are just leaks at present and haven't been confirmed by Activision yet. However, these dates seem plausible, given the game's launch date.
The cross-play beta is set to come to all systems September 22-23 for early access, and September 24-26 as an open beta for all players. Early access is granted for pre-ordering either the standard edition or the vault edition of Modern Warfare 2.
Sadly, the leak also shares that a PlayStation-exclusive beta is indeed still on the cards. This one should go ahead September 15-16 for early access and September 17-19 for all players on PlayStation systems. Bummer.
Again, none of this is confirmed just yet. However, we already knew about the PlayStation exclusivity window, so this set of dates does line up with that info. We'd expect Activision to officially announce the Modern Warfare 2 beta dates in the coming weeks.
Are you disappointed in the PlayStation exclusivity period? Or just excited about the open beta? Let us know!

@Kaloudz I agree, back when call of duty was relevant it didn't have any online shooter rivals and free to play games were non existant.
But now people would rather play fortnite and apex legends and the other multitude of free to play games over paying £50-£60 for the same game every year or two
Best thing Activision ever did was make warzone and made it free to play
@Kaloudz they will still put it on playstation but I'd expect Microsoft to stick with timed exclusivity and probably make it more meaningful such as whole modes and maps exclusive to xbox.

** but I'd expect Microsoft to stick with timed exclusivity and probably make it more meaningful such as whole modes and maps exclusive to xbox.**
I hope Microsoft don’t opt for that. Having all future COD, Diablo, Crash, Spyro and any other IP’s AB has on GamePass day one will make a much more meaningful proposition than a frankly meaningless and frustrating timed exclusivity on maps, modes etc.Just my two pence.
@Sol4ris maybe they won't, I mean if microsoft want to make call of duty cross play then it wouldn't make sense to have exclusive maps. Definitely will be on gamepass day one and can guarantee they will make something exclusive though to make sure people subscribe to gamepass for call of duty
@UltimateOtaku91 warzone was terrible for everyone that bought modern warfare they basically turned it into a free to play battle royale that has to be installed with the option of installing the content you paid for on top of it & you have to install countless updates for a game you don't want to be able to continue to play modern warfare's multiplayer not to mention with every warzone update they end up breaking something for modern warfare
@Kaloudz become? It’s already been…Sony have been paying for timed exclusive modes for ages now. Last MW Xbox gamers were locked out of spec ops mode for a whole year.
It would be lovely to see Xbox do similar. I wouldn’t miss out either way, but it would be nice for Xbox to show they still have some bite…and it would be hilarious reading the comments on pushsquare.
@Would_you_kindly and they would delete the campaign…meaning you had to reinstall it each time as well as the texture packs. Was ridiculous.
@UltimateOtaku91 Cod is no longer relevant? Don’t tell MS that…they just paid a lot of money for it.
Also, it’s still always top of the sale charts. It’s sales declining makes no difference there.
@Bleachedsmiles yeah as much as I loved the actual game warzone just completely ruined it for me & put me off buying another cod I would of asked for a refund if it released like it is now but they waited about a month to cram warzone into it & I couldn't get one by then 👎🏻
