A Plague Tale: Innocence was one of our absolute favourites from 2019; from the whole Xbox One generation in fact. One of its standout features were the downright disgusting 'rat swarms', and as it turns out, they're gonna get a whole lot more intimidating in the sequel.
In the latest issue of Edge Magazine, director on A Plague Tale: Requiem discussed various aspects of the upcoming sequel. Within, the dev touched on what moving away from Xbox One and PS4 means for Requiem.
"When we write, [the increased quality] allows us to consider sequences that were previously impossible, such as chases with hundreds of thousands of rats, or locations that evolve dynamically according to the story and events."
The director also said that certain aspects of the previous title, Innocence, "could look a bit like a theatre set due to technical limitations" and that the game world in Requiem will be more believable with the move to a next-gen-only release.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is sure to be one of the biggest Game Pass launches of the year, when it hits Xbox Series X|S on October 18th.

I remember playing the first when it hit gamepass and for some reason it not clicking for me (probably because I was playing on a base Xbox one)…I got little further than the tutorial.
Then last year they put the ps5 updated version on plus and as I gave it another go…ended up being one of my favourite games last year.
Will definitely be playing this on gamepass day 1 (will miss what they did with the duelsense though in the first).
If ms ever wanted to acquire a studio that has the potential to put out story driven linear content to match the likes of naughty dog, this is the studio.
I really need to finish the first game.
I am so happy that developers are finally moving on from X1/PS4. It's about time!
When I have really enjoyed a game and I'm looking forward to a sequel, I always play the prior game again in the weeks leading up to the sequels release. I did that with Horizon Forbidden West, and will also do so for the impending God of War. This is another one to add to that list! I absolutely loved the first game. I pre-ordered it and then got the full 1000g as well. So stoked for the sequel, and just might be tempted to buy it, rather than play it on the Games Pass, as some games are so good, you just want to own them...
