Update: Xbox has revealed that Design Lab will be adding a new offering in the form of a Pride Month controller on June 9th, along with a selection of new colour options. It'll also be launching in a variety of new countries.
Original story: The Xbox Design Lab website has been temporarily closed. It's unclear what exactly is going on behind the scenes, but it's nothing to worry about according to a placeholder message on the main page.
Apparently the lab is working on something and will return soon. Here's exactly what the message says - along with a screenshot of the webpage:
"Wait until you see what we're working on. Our lab techs say the wait won't be too long, so don't fret: Xbox Design Lab will return soon. Xbox Design Lab Will Be Back In A Bit."
The Xbox Design Lab was relaunched for the Xbox Series X|S generation in June last year, in the US, Canada, and western European countries. At the time, Microsoft said it would "continue to evolve" the Xbox Design Lab experience.
What do you think this teaser could be for? Speculate in the comments below.

An Xbox controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers?
I know * sigh * a man can dream…
@IOI the adaptive triggers really aren't all they're cracked up to be. the "wow" factor lasted less than a week for me.
that and apparently the parts in the triggers themselves just can't take it an the triggers break outright. i know someone with two pads, in less than 8 months, where the triggers just broke.
the rumble is nice though. the devs have to make it be nice though. which is rare.
gyro would be nice in my book.
The only thing I’d want from a new XBOX controller would be gyro-controls but that probably won’t happen this generation.
Light up controllers.
Forget the controllers, how about customised consoles?
VR or AR device
I would like you to start the service in Asia as well, even if it costs a little more for shipping.
I hope they make a controller like the dualsense that's the only thing about the ps5 I'm interested in
I was actually thinking of designing one this week and purchasing it, so I hope it's something good that they're updating
Ok.... We are waiting...
@Nalverus Depends on the use. Something like Returnal allowed 2 different uses of the triggers depending how hard you pushed them in, crucially with tension to prevent mistakes, this effectively added two more buttons without having to use your fingers. Very useful.
Agreed the devs have to make best use of the haptics, and few currently do. Though Astro Bot, Returnal, Death Stranding and a few others are transformational. Most just a bit gimmicky. However if Xbox had this as well devs would be more likely to support it.
Few things, design lab doesn't load on my console since it came back. And that includes a series x and a one X. No2, can you use reward point credit towards a custom controller?
The DualSense is a battery killer. The adaptive triggers are an annoyance after a while. The Xbox controller has a combination of rumble motors that cover the whole controller and work really well. The "HD" rumble of Switch and PS5 is not optimised in most games. Overall, the Xbox controller is the best, in my opinion. Gyroscope is something that the Xbox controller should include because, although not essential, it's a nice extra to have. I thought that this would be introduced in the Series X/S controller.
What I would love is being able to design our own Xbox Elite controllers, mostly because of the coloured buttons, something that I like and that it's been ruled out on Switch, PS5 and the Xbox Elite controllers.
Haptic feedback would be cool along with a built in mic and speaker.
Symmetrical sticks please, I'd buy 3 instantly!
Though seriously I hope its custom consoles or elite controllers
@Banjo- I carefully cracked open my Elite controller and switched the drab XYAB buttons with the colored/jewel buttons. It is my main controller and I always hated trying to talk someone else through using it. "Press the drab, gray-on-black A button... can't find it? It's next to the 3 other identical buttons..."
Now I can easily say "Press the Green button".
@Scummbuddy I have the stock Series X controller and the Elite Controller Series 2. I would love to do what you did and swap the buttons but I'd need detailed instructions and what tools are needed. I always use the Elite controller.
@Banjo- I can tell you that I did it the hardest way. After popping off the handle grips and wedging the handles open, I didn't make the effort to disconnect basically anything. I just separated the (three?) boards just enough to get the ABXY out and replaced but I recall having to catch and replace the rumble motors and such that would pop out with my awkward method. If I were to do it again I would commit to properly separating the boards as using every finger to prop open and hold items in place while reassembling was NOT the correct move. Still worked out just fine but wow, I gave myself a headache. I should have better followed a tutorial on YouTube like a BenHeck disassembly video.
@IOI haptic features and motion controls (so maybe shooter devs finally start standardizing flick stick) is the dream
Something like gradient coloring, or extra shiny overlay (for a modest sum)?
Could def use better materials, the wife got one (hardly uses it, she just wanted one), and the seam where the two halves of the shell are supposed to click have a notable gap between them.
Hopefully we'll finally be able to customize the elite controller. Fingers crossed.
@Spaceman-Spiff I honestly thought it'd be an awesome surprise for them to sell customized skins for the Series X|S consoles! I think they'd be extremely popular especially if they kept the prices reasonable. As it sits, it's neat that they are releasing a pride month controller. I just hope they keep the option open forever, not just for pride month but let us make pride controllers whenever we'd like.
