Tempted by Hot Wheels unleashed for the youngsters. Heard good things. Will wait til Sunday to see if anything coming up soon i should keep my rewards points for - although guessing the majority of reveals will be Game Pass anyway
Strongly considering RDR2 but with rumors of a proper XSX version, I'm not so sure. Then again, is GTA V really that much better looking than the Gen 8 version? From what I gather, not really.
@J0nny5 that seems like a really good price for Hot Wheels but I would be wary of buying just the base game if you are interested in the licensed DLC. The prices for the DLC separate are really high - so would aim for getting the bundle (stunt edition?) at a sale price in the future if you can.
@Verzion214 It varies by sale, a few weeks ago Lost Judgment Ultimate Edition was £37 on Xbox and £43 on PS at the same time. Darksiders Genesis is often under £10 on Xbox and usually around £13 on PS. Swings and roundabouts.
As for CP2077 that was £20 in almost every Xbox sale until the current gen update. MS pumped a lot of advertisement money into that game so I expect they're just trying to claw some back wherever they can.
@K1LLEGAL oh good point. Thanks. Not sure about the DLC but maybe I will hold off. I'm sure will be on sale again anyway. Ta!
@Verzion214 I noticed this with RE Village. I am in Brazil, so it's not just in UK.
For anyone who hasn’t played it yet, Dragon’s Dogma is only five bucks. I encourage everyone to pick it up because it’s an absolute banger of a game.
@Kooky_Daisuke It's the same here in the U.S. What's weirder is some Bethesda games like Prey are cheaper on PlayStation even though they're owned by Xbox lol
@Kooky_Daisuke I does depend by game as @Shigurui said but yes I've also noticed generally lower prices on PSN at least for the game I want, most of the time. Not much in it but a few quid here and there adds up, and very occasionally it's a sizeable difference.
@Sam_TSM Agreed. It is really tired at this point.
It honestly seems like they're trying to compete by having a huge number of sales so people can't say, use sales on Steam as a reason to not play.
The thing is, sales on Steam generally included deeper cuts into the prices of even newer games.
@BlackMayge I love Dragon's Dogma. IIRC, the Xbox version is only 1080p, 30fps though, right? I bought it a few years back and got a refund after seeing that.
With Ninja Turtles arriving on Game Pass next week and Shadowrun Trilogy after that I feel like I can probably give this sale a solid pass
Why is Ubisoft charging more £ than in $ 🙃
@IronMan30 no. The major benefit is 60fps and that should be free.
Lol @ Activision high sale prices. Us gamepass'rs are having em free soon, jog on!
@NeutronBomb yeah, I only got GTA V for XSX because of MS rewards, it's on sale and I haven't bought any previous versions. Otherwise, I'd have stayed away.
@themightyant You know what adds up more than a few quid here and there? Free credit by using Microsoft Rewards.
@Sam_TSM You're probably right but when I browse Nintendo's sales and see 5-year-old games with 33% off but still expensive... Or full-priced Wii and Wii U ports for Switch... Those moments make me wonder why am I still supporting Nintendo.
@Banjo- that’s true but you don’t usually get rewards on game sales, which we’re discussing here, just brand new games. Except for the occasional “spend £XX in a sale”, which is often buggy. (Twice they haven’t given me the points saying I spent less than I did 🤬)
That said I’m a BIG fan of MS rewards in general and have gained over 3 years of free Game Pass Ultimate as a result, plus I have another 210,000 points. Currently saving to get a free 1TB expansion. But almost all my points come from just playing games, daily quests and daily search. I don’t buy newer games digitally as it’s much cheaper physical especially if you resell the games which I do for some.
EDIT: and you’re right Nintendo are the worst. I just paid £33 digitally for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 a game released in 2017! Yet it was the best offer Physically this game is £50-£60! More than it cost at launch
Just purchased Red Dead 2. Only played a bit on PS4 so looking forward to getting stuck in properly on Series S.
@themightyant "and have gained over 3 years of free Game Pass Ultimate as a result, plus I have another 210,000 points".
Nobody that has done that can ever complain about a few quid, well, of course you can if you also acknowledge how much you save with Microsoft! 😁 I don't ever amass those many points at all, probably 25,000 at most and then buy something. You can use them for anything that you want, including games on sale, so you can get tons of games for free with 210,000 points or whatever you want (accessories...). I don't get as many points as I could and still get a decent amount.
And yes, the Nintendo eShop and policies are ridiculous.
@Banjo- the point is I don’t get any of those MS points from buying games on sale, it’s a separate argument. Meanwhile I’ve also saved hundreds of pounds from buying on PS especially in PS+ Double discount sales, Those couple of quid all add up!
The original point @Kooky_Daisuke made was that PS sales are slightly better. To which I agreed. Nothing more.
