For anyone who starts complaining about the “lack” of stuff in the second half, we have had these day one games:
6/16 - Shredder’s Revenge (normally $25)
6/17 - Omori ($30)
6/21 - Shadowrun Trilogy ($40)
6/24 - Nakara Bladepoint ($20)
Plus FIFA 22 and now Far Cry 5 and Escape Academy in the mix. I’d say that’s a pretty damn good second half.
@awp69 you always go out of your way to defend gamepass huh, on another note anyone play that three kingdoms game?
Oh my god FAR CRY 5, man I love game pass
@Cherip-the-Ripper Nothing really to defend. It speaks for itself but a lot of people here only jump on it expecting a bunch of AAA games. There’s a lot of good indies and AA games. If those people aren’t happy, they can always cancel.
Far Cry 5 is a great addition even though it’s my least favorite in the franchise. With that said, a lot of Ubisoft games are coming to Game Pass lately so I wonder if that’s a sign of things to come.
@awp69 Agreed. But I understand some people only want AAA style games. That's OK we're all different, they're not wrong, but perhaps Game Pass isn't for them. Best deal in gaming by far for me.
Excited to try all of these.
@BBB I mean there’s been 5 new day one games in just the second half. But know people all have different tastes.
@Cherip-the-Ripper Three Kingdoms meant to be one of the best Total Wars, according to a number of friends who've played it.
Going to be giving it a go myself, hoping my PC is powerful enough to handle some decent battles on it...
Naraka bladepoint is supposed to have a campaign mode which i would like to try. It looks pretty interesting, but not into multiplayer games. Farcry 5 and shadowrun i might give a try in the future. They just keep adding games i would like to try and my play later list keeps getting larger. Seeing ps plus also launches this week surely doesn't help this.
@Widey85 thanks for your thoughts, I'll be sure to check it out if it cools down soon here. Too warm to play on my laptop.
I don’t know what people expect to be honest, I think Game Pass is epic with the games they already have on there but it contributes to be updated so there’s plenty to play.
Im playing shredders revenge cause it would be rude not too, but the others are not for me.
Ive not played a lot from gp this year, but its decent value and ill remain subbed.
People will always have different preferences and what they consider to be 'great' value. If all you want to play is AAA games scoring at least 90 on Metacritic and within a certain gaming genre because they don't like Racing, FPS, Sports Sims etc, then maybe Game Pass isn't 'great' value to them.
For me, it provides more than enough value as I would never buy Indies for example because I'd rather put that money towards a AAA game - whether 'new' or on Sale. Talking of AAA games, many of those I wouldn't buy at launch either. Over the course of a year, I have played a lot more games than I could with the same budget. Not all were Day 1 like FH5, H:I, B4B etc, some were older games like GotG. Old games I bought too no longer need me to swap discs, so works well with Quick Resume too and having Ultimate, means I can play games on any of the devices I have. Its 'value' to me is certainly greater than 'just' the Day 1 1st Party exclusives. I am NOT going to buy games on my PS5 when I can play them on Game Pass and never that 'desperate' for something to play that I'll spend £70 to play Day 1...
@BBB New to Xbox
@Kooky_Daisuke ps plus sucks cooocka
@Kooky_Daisuke No it doesn’t, you get Uncharted games individually on the middle level, yet the premium level only offers a trial version of the new remastered bundled copies of the same games? That makes no sense, Microsoft would offer all of them and automatically download the best version for your console.
@awp69 Cancel or bring out their NES and play games on that. Pretty much same level of quality for 95% of what game pass offers.
@GuyinPA75 Almost all of the games I mentioned are well reviewed games. But whatever… If people don’t enjoy what are mostly good to great games, sure, they can cancel.
Get what you are saying. But honestly if well reviewed not bonus to me. Can bring out the NES with well reviewed ninja Gaiden. No paying $15 a month needed. Already own it.
I'm just done playing side scrolling 8 bit games and jumping over lava for endless levels. Quit that in the 1980s and early 90s.
Apart from Fifa (which has come way too late this year) nothing else interests me. Thankfully Eiyuden Chronicles is keeping me busy and I am also playing the first AI Somnium Files. Some months are dry and others are great depending on what you like but the mix is always there. Pentiment is my one to watch for second half of this year.
@awp69 it really depends what your interested in not the monetary value none of those games you listed I want to play I'm sure others do but it's always subjective
@Would_you_kindly Monetary value does matter because Microsoft is having to pay for all of these new day one games. If people aren’t enjoying the games they are spending money to get, then they should just cancel it. I know I love all kinds of games so there’s almost always value each month for me. Guess it’s good that I like variety.
People can’t expect to pay $15 a month and get a whole bunch of AAA games every month. Microsoft wouldn’t be able to afford it. So if you don’t think MS is picking enough games you like, it’s simple, just cancel. Or don’t resubscribe when your term is out.
Let’s see what’s in just this half of the month:
Even if you don’t like any of them, MS seems to have given us quite a bit of variety. Five of those are day one games that no one would own.
But again, everyone is able to cancel if they don’t like Microsoft’s choices.
@awp69 have you got epic games store on the pc ? They offer free games every month no subscription necessary & epic is a much smaller company compared to Microsoft if they can afford to literally give away games I'm sure Microsoft can afford to put some better games on gamepass lol
@Would_you_kindly Then it’s simple. Cancel if you don’t like it!
@awp69 wasn't subscribed in the first place why are you so angry lol
@Would_you_kindly Why are you bothering to say you don’t like any of the games if you aren’t subscribed?
@awp69 my initial comment was just saying that it doesn't matter what the games added are priced at & you said it does because Microsoft pay for them so I was just saying that none of the games interest me so the price they're sold at is irrelevant in my case
@SplooshDmg yeah I've added so many great games to my library since I downloaded it much better games than the 'free' ones from ps plus (most of the time) & Xbox live gold & the fact that you get them absolutely free with no subscription just shows what Sony & Microsoft are offering is a rip off
@GuyinPA75 What games are you talking about (rhetorical question)? You’re making it seem as if all games on Game Pass are those types of games.
Off the top of my head, there are many incredible games on Game Pass:
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Hitman Trilogy
AC Origins
Gears of War franchise
Master Chief Collection
Doom/Eternal
Skyrim
Fallout series
Prey
Dishonored
Tunic
Death’s Door
There are many more, of course. Sure, there are games on there that harken back to the NES/SNES days, but there are tons of other options that are more modern and current. Plus, those old school types of games are generally well received, such as Infernax (a must play, in my opinion).
Why make a discussion / dispute out of everything? People may feel and say as they like without remarks from others. We're talking about game pass, not war or world peace. I think that gamepass needs new AAA games so I can enjoy the power of my Xbox series X. Having played almost all AAA games on my PC at 1080p with my 1060 GTX at +- 55 fps. XBox is not giving me much more at this moment and that's a pitty...
Good lineup of games. Havent played a Far Cry game in a few years so might give 5 a go.
I haven't played a Far Cry game since 3 so 5 may be worth a go as I enjoyed that one. Though as I recall 3 was fairly grindy and my patience for that style of game is low as Game Pass means I've got plenty others to play that don't waste my time.
@BartoxTharglod Agreed. 'Value' is a very personal thing to everyone because not everyone has the same Budget, Circumstances, preferences etc.
To someone, buying a Porsche maybe seen as great value because it costs a lot less than Ferrari or Lamborghini for similar performance metrics, but to another, its a ridiculous amount to pay for a car that does the 'same' job as their Ford Focus - gets them from A to B and not slower because of speed limits.
If you don't have the time or interest in playing a wide variety of titles every month, instead preferring to play a 'few' games that fill your available time and/or not concerned about 'Day 1', preferring to pick up 'bargains' in sales, then it doesn't make sense to Subscribe. Its like those that complained Redfall and Starfield were delayed - if that's all you were waiting on, Cancel GP and 'resubscribe' in 2023...
For me, PS+ Premium makes absolutely NO sense. I'm not saying it has NO value, but to me it doesn't because I have all the PS4/5 exclusives I want and I'd have to stop buying ANY PS5 games for months, maybe years before games like God of War:Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2 or Wolverine get added - by which time, I would probably have bought those in a sale. For someone new to PS and/or more a 'retro' gamer too, then having all those games available to play maybe fantastic value.
However, no-one can or should deny that Game Pass represents the 'best' value in gaming right now. Whether you want to play 'every' game added or not, the fact you 'can' play £100's worth of games every month Day and Date for less money than buying just 1 of those games is 'great' value. It also means you don't have to 'miss out' due to financial status - no way could I have played all the games I played from Sept to Dec (B4B, FH5, HI, the Gunk, Far Cry 6 etc) because I couldn't afford to spend that much before Christmas on myself so I would have had to 'limit' my gaming down, make choices on which games to miss out on and which to buy.
