Update: We do indeed have more news to share with you! Diablo 4 has been announced with a 2023 release window at today's Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, and we've also been treated to Xbox Series X gameplay.
You can watch the trailer above!
"The Diablo IV dev team dives into the latest gameplay innovations coming to the next installment in the Diablo franchise."
Original story: We're expecting to hear more news about Diablo 4 at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 later today, but ahead of that event, the game's official website has opened up "pre-registration" for future betas on Xbox Series X|S.
The website notes that you can "sign up now for a chance to be included in future beta tests, and to get the latest information about Diablo IV", and suggests that the supported platforms will be Xbox Series X|S and PS5 only.
Windows Central is reporting that Diablo 4 is "very likely" going to make an appearance at the show today, so we'll update this article with more information (hopefully a new trailer and release date!) if that turns out to be the case.
Excited for Diablo 4 on Xbox Series X|S? Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks for the shout out I registered for the beta. Looking forward to this one. Curious when it will finally be here
Signed up, thanks 👍
Sweet looks good and in Playstation as well!!!!
@Kooky_Daisuke it's confirmed to not be an exclusive, and hopefully it's fully cross play too
Wait, was there no mention of Game Pass for this?
I also worry about micro transactions and other multiplayer focus that would totally destroy the game spirit for me. An I’ve always been a huge fan. Now my enthusiasm level is near zero since Immortal (immortal is only Blizzard bank account). And I fear some announcement one day about a GTA VI only online. Tanks god there’s Elden Rings 😌
This looked amazing, really excited for it to release!
One of the highlights from the lacklustre show. And it’s not coming to gamepass… what a shame
Looks great. Proper art style. Necro 4life. I'm hesitant with the mmo aspect but sounds optional. Definitely excited.
@Bleachedsmiles it'll be on gamepass along with the entire actibliz catalog once the merger goes through almost guaranteed..... Which is probably before it launches. Right now it's an Activision game, by then it'll be an xbgs game.
@NEStalgia I hope so. But who knows if some deals have gone on behind the scenes preventing it. I guess we’ll know when they start asking for preorders…
@Bleachedsmiles I guess there could be some extreme outside chance of some kind of deal, but at the moment we know it's not an Epic Store exclusive since it's tentatively sold directly on battle.net (I'm sure that'll get rolled into Windows store, but that's the idea.)
And we know it's not a Sony exclusive, nor a Sony marketing rights situation (like CoD) since it appeared in the Microsoft stream, and I don't know that we've seen any examples of a "no GamePass" clause in play in games where they don't have the marketing rights. So it seems pretty unlikely.
What we do know is Activision generally has had low GamePass participation to date, with only a few older games going there, nothing day 1, and at the current moment in time, this is just another Activision 3rd party game, ignoring GP like all other Activision games. But by launch date, it'll be XGS, and Phil determines if it goes to GP or not, barring any contracts elsewhere, which at the moment seems unlikely.
Even preorder probably doesn't tell us much, if the preorders go live while Activision is still Activision. Now, they may hold off on opening up sales on the XB store for that reason, but they may not, it depends how things are slotted into AB's current non-MS plans.
We can't know for sure what legal work is in the background, but from what we do know at the moment, I don't see any reason to not expect it on GP.
Plus it would be weird for them to put such a big spotlight on the game in that presentation knowing it's a "soon to be first party but multiplat" game if they were planning to dump "oh it's first party, but we're not actually putting it on GP" It's not a definite since we can't know everything, but it's seems extremely unlikely it's not on GP at this point.
