So, another Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase is in the books! Shortly following the show, GM of Xbox Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg took to social media to thank the fans, alongside the Head of Xbox himself, Phil Spencer.
Writing on his Twitter account, Greenberg stated that he was "so proud to be part of Team Xbox", and both he and Spencer wanted to "thank all of our fans for their support":
Humorously, Greenberg went on to point out that the photo of him and Spencer appears to show the latter "looking like a prize fighter who just came out of a big match" - perhaps he's just a bit exhausted from the in-person Xbox FanFest!
At the time of writing, we've collected just over 1200 votes in our poll about the showcase here at Pure Xbox, where the vast majority have given it a "B", although there are a lot of "A" ratings as well. Excellent work, Team Xbox!
Got any words of support / thanks for Aaron and Phil? Leave them in the comments below!

I liked the show. A lot of great game pass games I'm looking forward to playing the next 12 months.
Yeah yeah thankful for us not all kicking off that the second year of your new hardware you’ve no games to release. Always next year… no wonder they appreciate our trust.
Why does Phil look like an extra from Redfall?
@Bleachedsmiles Did you even watch the show?
@BlackMayge I did. It was one of their weakest for years. Did you? What did you learn?
We both for sure learned that Xbox have no first party games coming out in 2022 right? Tell me if you can remember the last time a console got released and didn’t have any first party games in its second year?…I’m genuinely interested to know. Like I said, it’s ok…there’s always next year, right?
Seriously, what did you like about the show? All the expansions they spent time showing? The games they announced years ago? The indie games? The fact that they bravely claimed all games shown would release in the next 12 months… and then didn’t even show a title card for kojimas game?
@Bleachedsmiles if you count deathloop & ghostwire tokyo they do although they've already released on ps5 & were in development way before they were acquired by Microsoft
@Would_you_kindly ghostwire wont be hitting Xbox this year. Deathloop though, you’re right…though that’s not Xbox studios…and does it have a date? But sure, ok we’ll count that as Xbox giving us first party support in shape of a multiplatform game…and I guess we should also count a 2+ year old game finally getting an official release in grounded too…pretty much scraping the barrel though aren’t we looking for that first party support for a console only in its second year. Amount of money MS has this just seems crazy to me. But least they tweet how much they love us.
@Bleachedsmiles I did watch it. Was it as strong as last year? Not necessarily, but it was still pretty damn solid. I understand your complaint about no real first party games being shown in their second year, but it is what it is.
That said, we do know that Avowed, Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones, Outer Worlds 2, and a ton of more games ARE coming, but the fact that all of these games shown today are coming within the year, and even on Game Pass is pretty damn awesome.
Redfall looks awesome (in my opinion).
Starfield looks great.
Scorn will be cool.
Forza will do their thing.
A Plague Tell Requiem genuinely looks fantastic and a huge improvement over the first one.
Persona 5 Royal (and two other Persona games)? Are you kidding me? That is massive.
High on Life looks new, refreshing, and fun.
Riot Games and LoL on Xbox/Game Pass? Huge.
Flintlock looks cool, too.
I get that some of these games might not be your cup of tea; and I definitely understand the sentiment of, “We are waiting another year for AAA exclusives” but we have plenty of games to tide us over. In my opinion, I think this showcase was fantastic because a lot of new games were shown that we didn’t know anything about. So, imagine the presence Xbox will have once their AAA first party games are ready.
That’s not to mention we are getting Deathloop, Ghostwire, Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol, RE4 Remake, Street Fighter 6, and more. And I’m sure we will also get a lot more Xbox Game Pass games throughout the year that wasn’t mentioned in the conference.
Look, man - I get that we are once again waiting for the big games, but what we are getting in just a years time (barring no delays), I think we as an Xbox ecosystem have a lot of great things in store. Regardless, I also have a PS5 and Switch so I’m not lacking in games to play.
@Bleachedsmiles Agree with you, my friend. The Persona and Silksong announcements were the only bombshells, and, even so, Silksong didn’t have a release date. Starfield gameplay brought out concerns I didn’t know or think I’d have with the game. Xbox continues to hyperbolically announce games without giving any indication where their announced projects remain. Why have Obsidian have another project when no one knows what’s going on with Avowed, for instance? I get the feeling that the initial Series X games presentation was the plan for the entire generation’s line-up of exclusive content at this point.
And people keep talking about Deathloop like it’s coming this year to Xbox, but there has been no confirmed evidence of this. You’d think Xbox would promote that, especially in an event like this.
I did think they did a pretty good job this year.
But they also have to start having new first party games spread out over the year better.
I don't consider Grounded a new game.
Do like that there is a Minecraft Legends, Forza Motorsport, Starfield, and Redfall are all stacked for the first half of next year. But for the rest of this year it is mostly content updates/expansions on existing games with the exception of Pentiment which is of the smaller variety.
Also, surprised there was no Halo news at all.
I liked the show. There was some positives to come out of it for sure. The rebuilding of Japanese relations is continuing with the Persona announcements and Koei Tecmo releasing a new ip for Gamepass day one! Xbox one generation ruined a lot of hard work done during the 360 generation, so it’s still a work in progress but one that is working. We will see what the other studios are working on in due time, but in the mean time, slowly but surely, Xbox is bringing back the magic that made 360 so amazing.
Am I the only one who doesn’t care about big AAA exclusives? I gotta be honest most of Sony and Microsoft’s first party line up doesn’t interest me at all, I’m more interested in the third party and indie stuff. As long as I have something to play I’ll be happy.
@BlackMayge oh yeah we’ll all eat great one day…we’ll finally grab that carrot they’ve been dangling for years…
We just now know that those games you mentioned, that we’re all looking forward to, are still at least 12 months away.
Personally I thought the show was poor…taking into account the stage and timing.
The set up for the show was us getting the news broken that the two big hitters this year have been delayed till next. Phil Spencer himself is tweeting how he’s so excited for the show, they’ve so many games to show. Countless articles are written saying wait for June 12…
We hear it’s going to be 95mins…they’ve so much to show…
…we get half a conference consisting of expansion packs for already existing games.
…we get zero gameplay shown still from any of the studios Xbox bought back in 2018…from games they announced years ago…
The stage, it’s basically still their E3 conference. I don’t want cg trailer after cg trailer…I do want some ‘holy s hit’ moment though. A new AAA game shown from them. I don’t believe we got that. I can’t really think of any new game from Xbox shown that we didn’t already know about.
The argument there could be that at least we’re not getting teased by smoke and mirrors for the sake of headline by games that are years away…which I can agree with, as I’m sick of us saying ‘wait till next year’… but then they go and have Kojima announce he’s working on a game…that isn’t even far enough along to get a damn title card, let alone a cg trailer.
I was personally left bored and disappointed with the show. There’s a handful of games I really liked the look of. But they were placed amongst so much filler.
I really hope next year xbox find a middle ground of showing gameplay of games coming soon but also a sneak peak at what’s coming ahead.
Another underwhelming show from Xbox. Every year is a major let down. Where was Fable? Banjo? Hellblade? Perfect Dark? Gears? Avowed? The ink isn’t dry on the Kojima deal, not even a working title. The best announcement was Persona 3&4 and that’s not till 2023.
@Bleachedsmiles amen.
I'm starting to understand why PS fans get annoyed at the complainers, despite being one of those complainers myself.
It was a good show, lots of good games shown, many are multiplat, but many are going to be playable in the subs most of us already have at no extra cost while they'd collectively cost hundreds on another platform. It's a good offering for current or potential Xbox owners which was the point of the show. I really don't get what is it with people and exclusives? That goes for both consoles. It's like some kind of obsession. On Nintendo, I get it, if Nintendo doesn't bring the goods, all you get are scraps, mobile indies, and yes, the best Japanese game collection around, but for non-Japanese games fans Switch could be an issue. Back in the day with old consoles you had two very distinct libraries between Sega/PS/Nintendo or even OG XB. But why on these two that get all the big games in the industry? Since last gen when it went x86, the whole point was to collapse it into pretty much one big midrange PC. PS and XB are like 90% identical consoles. They're just different custom lite PCs that play most of the same games.
The console wars are over. Sony showed us games you can play on XB and a few you can't. MS showed us games you can play on PS and a few you can't. It's not the 90's anymore. Most games are multiplat. Exclusives are bigger, take longer, and total fewer over a generation. They showed big exclusives coming later than expected. We know other exclusives are out there but not coming in the next 12 months. We know Sony released more exclusives so far this gen. And we know very little about what they're doing post December. Heck we don't even know for sure what they're doing in December. We know they're pushing on 12 services, and all are unlikely to appeal to a lot of people that usually buy PSes "for the exclusives".... Are we really just counting the number of current games playable on a given system not playable on another and picking up pitchforks?
Seriously, what is the obsession with games needing to be unplayable on another system for it to be self-validating? It only matters if the only reason you bought a system is as a second system for those few specific games, which is a very tiny selection of the customer base. People are still annoyed about delays. If they delay games beyond the whole generation then there's reason to be annoyed. So far they've delayed things a few months, and that's all we know, as this list, in theory covered through June. If that turns out to be false, then there's reason to be upset.
Switch owners have been waiting for MP4 for 5 years and counting and it probably won't even land on the current console. Starfield 2023 is nothing.
I was more disappointed than happy about the show. but that's because they only talked about what's scheduled to hopefully come out in the next 12 months
so no major games for 2022. Must wait to hear more about the games we want to hear about. and to top it off..no major gamepass announcements for this current month or any epic surprises. As time passes I realize the thing about wait till next year or next E3 is starting to weigh too dog gone much.
i think it was a weak showcase even if they shown starfield gameplay it was overrall the weakest summer of gaming since a long time i really do miss the time where E3 was because they where challenging every year to put their best cards in front nowadays everyone do their thing on their side their side sometime it can be fruitfull or sometime like this year it can be average even if their gameplay presentation was well pace their was obviously alot of filler in my opinion.
