Update (Thu 5th May, 2022): Remember this? The Day Before is still coming to Xbox Series X and Series S, but it's undergoing some changes ahead of release, with the game switching to Unreal Engine 5 for development.
That means the initial release date for The Day Before is now set for March in 2023, and that'll seemingly be the PC version first. Here's what the development team had to say in a statement shared with IGN earlier today:
"Feeling and understanding the great responsbility that we face, with enormous gratitude in our hearts, we're pleased to announce that The Day Before is switching to the new Unreal Engine 5 technology!
The transition to a more advanced and adapted open worlds engine, will make the gameplay of The Day Before even more fantastic."
Original story (Sat 16th Oct, 2021): Earlier this year, you might recall hearing about The Day Before - a new open-world zombie-themed survival MMO for PC. The good news is it's now been confirmed for the Xbox Series X|S during an update from the team at 'Fntastic'.
The trailer below gives us a look at the game's combat, looting system, vehicles and social areas. A release date has also been set for the PC version - revealing how it will be arriving in June next year.
The final reveal of the Fntastic's broadcast was 'Propnight' - a multiplayer physics-based prop hunt mixed with classic horror survival. At the moment, it's been locked in for PC.

Looks interesting, I love zombie/post apocalyptic games so this is definitely day one for me, just unsure about it being a MMO especially if it has forced pvp
Some 4K gameplay if anyone's interested

Wow this looks amazing.
Never heard of this game.
With how many can you play this online?
"The Day Before" "The Last of Us" saw "the Division 2"
I enjoy zombie games and I enjoy the division.
Really should enjoy this game!
Really hope its just PvE. If its PvP its gonna destroy this game
Is this the one that kinda looked like The Division?
@Microbius you realize those "idiots" are probably right based upon the sordid history of this game studio, right? The studio has like 8 people in it. Look at the game they've promised. You think 8 people made that, and are gonna switch engines at the last second for some reason and get it all done in a year?
They were hoping everyone would forget this game. Every game they have made had huge promises made, and about 10% reality payout on those promises. These games shipped broken (badly) and then there were the obligatory "we'll fix it" promises, followed by immediate pivoting to a new project featuring even more grandiose promises of amazing gameplay and graphics. They are currently being sued for the CF their last game turned out to be.
I want this game to be real. Given the history of those making it and their ability, I highly doubt it will ever see the light of day, or else it will be nothing like they promised. My guess is this sudden engine swap is to delay a bit and then excuses of "not being able to overcome limitations of the hardware/software for their vision" will get trotted out, and it'll be cancelled. I do sincerely hope I am wrong. But fool us once....
