It wasn't the best weekend for Microsoft or the team at Xbox. There were outages to Xbox Live, players couldn't access the cloud, and launching, purchasing, and signing into games was also a problem.
While it seems most of these issues have now been "resolved" there are still a few other problems to resolve. While they've been significantly improved since the weekend, some users are still struggling to purchase and launch games.
It seems Xbox will roll out an update in the coming days, in an attempt to further reduce these problems:
"We’ve seen significant improvement to the issue that has prevented some users from purchasing and launching games. We expect full mitigation in the coming days with the roll out of a new update."
These issues have also led to both confusion and frustration over 'offline' games. Read more in our previous story:

I think us gamers should be compensated. I'm just saying.
@XFinest_KnightX I don't want compensation, I just want them to fix their damn broken DRM policies.
I've played Xbox for 17 years, okay the 360 didn't have any form of DRM, but only once in those years I've experienced an outage like this,so i think their DRM policies are pretty solid, I had no problem this weekend however some friends have, even if they had set the Xbox as a the homebox it wouldn't help for them, they will fix it. There has to be some check if you own the game or not, and you get two licences with every game you purchase so that's pretty decent as well.
@TheSilverFalcon yes it did. Digital Rights Management. the DRM is the license you purchase to play the game. Wouldn't be a good look to developers if people could just download a game an play it scott free, no?
really is an odd issue though. nobody i knew was affected or myself.
@Nalverus the issue started for myself Friday afternoon. It effected myself, my wife and 3 of our closest friends. My wife and I love in the Pacific Northwest USA, 1 friend lives in southern California, Another in Alaska and the last in Florida so the outage was felt across the country. We couldn't play Fortnite, Rogue Company, Forza horizon 5, Halo infinite, Dying light 2 or any other game for that matter. Most frustrating was the fact that games I have purchased digitally wouldn't work offline at ALL! I couldn't play any of my purchased games which I honestly wasn't expecting because I thought Xbox fixed their DRM restrictions allowing players to play their purchased games offline. I truly hope this gets resolved ASAP because now I'm afraid if my WiFi ever goes out I won't even be able to play single player games offline.
@Master_Cthulhu70 You can just test this yourself by turning off your wifi. If your xbox is set as your home console, you shouldn't have experienced this issue. That's not to say that something doesn't need to be fixed somewhere.
For me, an always online console is a dealbreaker for me. I rather get a PC (Yes, I would pay more for it just so I can play offline). Then again PC has a lot of bad ports and troubleshooting. It's like they didn't learn from 2013. It's not as bad, but this should be as big of a matter like the $120 price hike gold attempt was.
