It's finally official! The long-awaited sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been revealed as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and it'll be coming to Xbox Series X and Series S (along with PS5 and PC) in 2023.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will see the return of Cal Kestis from Fallen Order, taking place five years after the events of the first game, and EA promises it "will expand upon the iconic Star Wars stories, worlds, characters, and thrilling combat first experienced in the series’ debut title". The game is once again being developed by Respawn Entertainment, under the leadership of game director Stig Asmussen.
Here's what Asmussen had to say about today's announcement:
“Even before completing Jedi: Fallen Order, our team had a vision of how to carry the adventure for Cal, BD, and the crew into the sequel. For Jedi: Survivor, we are working in lockstep with Lucasfilm Games to build on the legacy of Jedi: Fallen Order.
We’re leveraging advanced technology to create more dynamic Jedi combat and cinematic storytelling to expand on Cal’s story as he matures and survives during the dark times. We can’t wait to share more about the game with the world later this year.”
The reason Jedi: Survivor is only coming to Xbox Series X and Series S (rather than Xbox One as well) is due to EA and Respawn's desire to "create a deeper and more expansive Star Wars experience for players worldwide".
You can check out a few more details from the press release below, along with the teaser trailer above.
"Accompanied by his trusty companion BD-1, Cal will meet and ally himself with an array of unique and interesting characters on his journey. Jedi: Survivor will expand on the series’ dynamic combat in new and innovative ways. In order to survive, Cal must learn new skills and grow his connection with the Force."

Yes! I loved Fallen Order!
I really should go back and replay it. I played in on Xbox One X on a non-4K and non-HDR display. I feel like I should experience it "as intended" on Series X.
Looking forward to seeing more.
Beat the first game and loved it. Hope this one turns out well.
I'm usually pro cross gen game, but this is single player and the Series S is pretty easy to find in stock in 2022. I'm certain that Halo Infinite would have flopped if it was next gen exclusive, but this will be fine. I don't want to give into console wars, but Sony has a serious problem with PS5 availability. I would like to keep a disc drive and mainly game on PC so my current Xbox is my OG model with 2013 vintage tech. Pretty sure I'll have to get a Series S at this rate, just for the split screen Halo and back compat.
@Vincent294 You could also say that if the Series S/X had sold as much as the PS5 then it may have had a “serious problem with availability” too.
This will be day one for me - I absolutely loved the first game.
First one was great and expecting nothing less for this one. I'll be honest I'll be playing it in EA Play once it's in the service just because I'll always have enough to play while I wait. Also guaranteed to have all the bugs worked out by then, still don't trust anyone releasing a polished product in the current environment.
@Angelus3K The Series X also has an availability problem. The Series S seemed like an interesting bet, but in hindsight it was genius. It's actually in stock, and has been for months. Can't say that about the X or PS5.
Never good idea to give a release date. Not even an open door general 2023 estimate.
Finally new generation games only are arriving.
2023 is stating to look like the start of the new generation.
Looking forward to this one.
@Vincent294
Are you in the UK by any chance? If so the Series X has been in stock all week at my favourite online retailer. https://www.shopto.net/en/xbxhw01-xbox-series-x-p191471/
Still no PS5's though.
Awesome, I can't wait to play it.. Fallen Order was amazing..
good bout time support for the One is cut, these older systems really holding the current gen back some....
@Vincent294 the X has been in stock here In Jersey ive seen them in a bestbuy, target, and walmart. physically in the stores...
I really gotta play the first one. And if I like it, this could finally be a reason to buy an xbox x
Fallen Order is one of the very best Star Wars games of all times. Even better than the first Force Unleashed.
I played it on Series X, and it was an jaw drapping game, cross-gen or not.
Really, really looking forward this sequel !
Great! I am sure fans of the first game will be pleased.
