It's safe to say Elden Ring has been a huge hit so far in 2022. It's been one of the most talked about games of the year, with some earmarking it as a huge Game of the Year contender already. Bandai Namco will no doubt be pleased with how things are going as well, as the publisher reveals some Elden Ring sales figures.
Up to the end of March 2022, Bandai Namco has shipped 13.4 million copies of Elden Ring. We must stress this is shipped to stores rather than sold to customers, but we can't image that sold through figure being much further behind. To put this into context, prior to March 31st, Elden Ring shipped roughly a million copies every three days!
Back in the middle of March, European sales data deemed Elden Ring the biggest new IP in the region since Ubisoft's The Division, which launched back in 2016. At that point, FromSoftware's latest release had only been on sale for a few short weeks.
This is a pretty staggering sales pace and we can't even imagine where Elden Ring's figures will be by the end of 2022. There's some big stuff bound to come out by the end of the calendar year, but Elden Ring will surely remain one of the 2022's biggest successes.

I wonder if it will come to Gamepass. Either way, glad to see a new IP blowing up.
I'm guessing those shipped numbers exclude digital copies sold to consumers.
I've stopped playing after 25 hours. Just not really feeling the setting or story elements and the core gameplay is a step backwards from BloodBorne and Sekiro.
Well deserved. A true milestone title that truly pushes it genre forwards.
It not even close to being perfect and I could easily point out where its not best of class, but what it excels at is SO good that this barely matters, and its a 10/10 title anyway. I'm still not finished it, and I'm 200+ hours now (at heligtree, so not long to go!)
Traditionally I'm not a souls games player, but so many great designers I respect have waxed lyrical about some of the design elements of this title , I spent some effort braking through the initial pain barrier that these titles can have determined to understand why they rated it so highly. Now I get it.
These kind of sales almost guarantee the creation of a follow up title, which will make a lot of gamers very happy.
But I thought there wasn't a market for largely single player games?
Absolutely love Elden Ring. It is insane the amount of content there is. And the fact I was able to get it new off the shelf, for $49.99, was all the better.
Now if only we could get another Otogi or Armored Core from From Software.
Elden Ring is goty but I could see Horizon winning because of the goty template (story action based game).
We still have a few potential threats.
