Recently, CD Projekt Red delivered the disappointing news that its Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen patch has been delayed indefinitely. However, we've come across this new analysis video showing the One X version running on Xbox Series X and, we have to admit, it's pretty impressive.
The Xbox One X version of The Witcher 3 contained a performance mode. This unlocked the standard 30fps cap and allowed for higher framerates on the One X. However, the game never really hit 60fps consistently on any last-gen console.
If you run the Xbox One X version on Series X though, that's another ball game entirely. A lot of the dynamic resolution ranges are massively increased, and the framerate is practically locked to 60fps. Seriously, who needs a next-gen patch?!
Xbox Series X running the Xbox One X version in Performance Mode via backwards compatibility uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being approximately 3456x1944 and the lowest resolution found being approximately 2400x1350.
Xbox One X in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being approximately 2650x1490 and the lowest resolution found being 1920x1080.
Well, the next-gen patch will no-doubt bring some other improvements so we're still highly anticipating it. However, the current Series X version is seriously impressive, and it's tempting us back for a replay despite the next-gen delay.
What do you make of these findings? Tempted to have a go yourself? Let us know in the comments.

I think The Witcher 3 was one of the first backwards compatible titles I ran when I got a Series X and it looked and ran amazingly well.
You're really trying to get me back into this game when Nintendo just pulled back the release date of XC3? I won't cave!
I jest, but I'm still waiting. I have plenty of other games to play, as it is.
I completed this game, and all DLC recently on my Series X. I still rate it as my favourite game of all time. I was impressed at just how beautiful everything looked, especially the Blood & Wine DLC.
I’d take another look at it if CDPR released updated visuals, but I’m not too disappointed.
I played a few hours on a base xbo.
Then I played about 25 hours on the switch.
I want to check it out on the series x, but wished they had cross saves, so as not to start at the beginning...again.
Damn, having a Series S really makes you despise and hate with passion the One Fat/S model, what were they thinking when they made that useless console?
@uptownsoul that's not what I'm talking about, the Series S is great and I'm really happy with it. I'm talking about how a lot of games that the Series S could move perfectly, run really bad because they are the hideous One S versions. MH World at 800p or RDR2 at 864p and 30fps are two examples. It's my only complaint with the system, the lack of space I just solved it by buying the 1TB expansion card.
@uptownsoul clearly you don't know what you are talking about, Xbox One showed bad performance on games even at release, for example Ryse at 900p 30fps and can't even hold steady those FPS. While Series S plays new and really graphic intensive games at 1080p60, 1440p60 (FH5, Halo Infinite, BF 2042, AC Valhalla, Far Cry 5, Gears 5, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Marvel's Avengers) and some at even 120fps like Gears 5 multiplayer or CoD Vanguard. Clearly the console show it's capabilities and that good devs can use them, something we never saw on the One S model.
It looks gorgeous on Series S also imho.
