Remember how bad eFootball 2022, the free-to-play PES replacement, was at launch back in September of 2021? Well, Konami does too, and that's why the game has relaunched as Version 1.0.0 today on Xbox with a massive overhaul.
It's free to download right now on the Xbox Store, featuring a new gameplay approach with rebuilt player and ball behaviour, tactical team battles, new "Stunning" pass and shot mechanics, defensive improvements and much more.
Plus, we've actually got some modes to enjoy this time around, highlighted by the Ultimate Team style "Dream Team" mode, in which you can build a squad by signing players and managers and then compete with others online.
It definitely sounds like an improvement over the original state of eFootball 2022, which received an "Overwhelmingly Negative" rating on Steam, but we'll have to wait and see whether it's enough to bring it back from the dead.
"The free-to-play eFootball™ 2022 has been designed to recreate the battle for the ball between players, and the unique team tactics that are often seen in the football world. New controls have been added to the game giving users more options for any situation on the pitch, with the opportunity to experience tactical battles based on real-world football ideologies."

@Medic_Alert same, they could even snag the FIFA license with EA looking to part ways
Was so disappointed when this came out. Loved 2021. Really hope they can get back to how brilliant they were.
Too little too late. They got greedy and thought they could be lazy and get a massive chunk of FTP money. It backfired.
PES is dead. Which is such a shame.
It has only has half a dozen teams to play in offline mode, the rest of the Premier League for example are missing.
It's like poking a corpse to see if it moves.
It's dead, move on.
I think Konami would be better off giving it a quick burial and getting on developing a new game from the ground up.
Hope they (or someone else) do eventually being back a true competitor to FIFA (or whatever EA are going to call their game now)... there's not really a bunch of competition in the football game space.
