343 has released its Halo Infinite update for the month of April over on the Halo Waypoint blog. In this latest update, it's shared the game's roadmap for the remainder of 2022. While some items and dates are "certain", others are marked on this roadmap as either "targets" or "goals". In other words, it's very much an "evolving document" and the schedule is subject to change.
Season 2 is currently "locked and loaded" for May 3rd. It'll run through until November 7th. As noted, there'll be new maps, modes, battle pass, and events. Around "late August" the campaign network co-op is also planned to launch.
This will be followed by Season 3, kicking off on November 8th. Once again, there'll be a new battle pass, new maps, new modes and new events, including narrative ones. It'll also add new sandbox items, the Forge open beta will begin, there'll be some quality-of-life improvements and campaign split-screen co-op is mentioned, too (timing TBD).

Looks like a good road map. I’m really interested in the narrative events. Sea of thieves is doing timed narrative events and it’s been a blast.
I thought Co-op was coming in May, what happened?
See, that wasn’t too hard, was it, 343? They should’ve done this for season 1. Not going to be heading back to Infinite til I know when “narrative events” are dropping, but this and the BR news at least has the game back on my radar, as far as a GAAS title goes. If any game can make GAAS potentially click for me in these days, it’s maybe Infinite.
Still no mention of offline splitscreen multiplayer as Guests. Its (deliberate) omission to this point is a slap in the face to fans. Get with it already, 343; Combat Evolved managed more on the original XBox than you are with this game two decades later. INEXCUSABLE.
Good to have a roadmap, but a shame the timeline for co-op is getting delayed yet again.
I’ll be back when they have campaign narrative. Hopefully that’s juicy and not a small piecemeal offering.
Man this game needed another 6-12 months in the oven before it was ready. Can't wait for campaign DLC to drop in 2026... 😔
Will get back into the game and its campaign when mission replay is added.
@Tasuki In a Halo Waypoint blog in March, 343 mentioned how campaign network co-op would not be delivered until "later in Season 2":
"All this means that we will not be able to ship Campaign network co-op on May 3rd, at the start of Season 2. But we are still aiming to deliver Campaign network co-op later in Season 2, and we will share a release date for that and for split-screen co-op as soon as we can."

As noted by 343 in today's update, this roadmap is very much an "evolving document" so dates and plans are subject to change.
Worse than I hoped but if that's what 343 can manage, I don't want them to crunch. The campaign was great and the multiplayer is solid, but the post release updates have been glacial. I'm not outraged like Reddit is, but you'd think they could hire more staff to spread the work out. Unless the reason coop is delayed is an engine problem and not an art/QA testing issue.
People on reddit not happy about another 6 month season. Personally not bothered. Really enjoying the game.
An entire year and you only get 2 new maps.
Didn't I say that GAAS cosmetics and the BR mode would reduce the output of the standard content?.
Nice to see more clarity on campaign mission replay, the open world isn't interesting enough to justify replaying the campaign from the beginning but I'm missing a bunch of skulls from the linear missions. I'll do the same with playing the campaign on higher difficulties as just playing the linear missions counts.
As for the multiplayer side of things, it seems to still be rather rough especially with the 6 month long season. While the new modes seem interesting enough, I doubt it'll keep my attention for long though.
Ouch the two maps are all we get until November? That's a little disappointing to see. I was hoping we would see at least a few classic maps return here and there to at least break it up a bit but oh well.
I also am a little sad to see the season is stretching all the way to November. I was hoping somewhere around August or so. I'm not too bothered by it but a few of my buddies I play with won't like that at all.
All this said though I'm still pumped to jump in again in May!
6 months after release we got 2 maps and now we have to wait another 6 months, yeah this is unacceptable. For what it's worth, at least all the studios chained to the CoD mines over on Activision are responsible of bringing new content all the time to Warzone, Xbox need to do the same, have 1 or 2 more support studios just to make maps and content for Infinite.
This hands off approach to development is not working, only one AAA this year, problems at the initiative and undead labs, Rare doesn't know what to do with Everwild, Turn10 not releasing a game in 5 years and still getting that game delayed, Mojang is doing the absolute bare minimum and 343 letting one of the best Halo experiences ever die a slow death. At this point looks like the only serious studios are Playground, The Coalition and Double Fine. At least when we start getting the Bethesda games we are going to see what good studios are capable of
6 months is a long time but hopefully after this it’ll be 3-4 month seasons.
This first season I had the pass complete in mid December. I won’t be doing the same thing this season. I’ll likely still play weekly though. Especially if the rewards are better.
Still excited about what season 2 has to offer content wise after the preview trailer this week.
@Zucaritas The hands off approach is what's happening at my job. And it's lead to what one of the bosses said like a 140% turnover rate with the company. Teams need leadership that is not overbearing, yet still firm to get results. If things feel too lax, then why bother?
@RedSabat yeah, Xbox needs to start putting some limits or some deadlines for these teams that are still in pre production, not fully in production or still don't have a strong direction for the game. Nobody here's wants devs to get crunched but some of these teams need to start showing some progress.
Look at last E3, in almost year we only had one game released that was premiered on that show (FH5), the other 3 Xbox exclusives were games we knew from way before (Psychonauts 2, Halo and Age 4). I think Xbox has the upper hand for now over Sony in that they can put good games on gamepass to fill the void between exclusives but damn, we really are going to go 11 months with no Xbox exclusive, from December with Halo until Starfield in November
@Liam_Doolan Ah ok thanks for the info. My son and I are eagerly waiting to play the co-op campaign.
Forge in September in 'open beta' seriously takes that long to release a staple feature of the games & it's only in beta lol
Training the gaming masses to accept (and pay more for...including after the original point-of-sale) less and less. It's the direction the modern videogame industry, especially with online-centric titles, has embraced to the hilt.
@AtlanteanMan Yup. I bet people will cheer that the next battlefield has a scoreboard. Freetoplay and GaaS (not all of them) are slowly making people getting used to getting less and less.
Well all I can hope/pray for is that legit Battle Royal that Certain Definity is working on gets released before season 3. I am pretty baffled that they are making Season 2, 6 months long also. Originally it was only supposed to be season 1 that was going to be 6 months, with all other seasons proceeding it being only 3 months long.
Maybe it is this damn co op and forge modes that are really what are holding the devs back from churning out some multiplayer maps. The fact that the community has gotten to rabid dog levels of expectation and they have two maps. They must have heard multple multiple times by now that the MP community would be very happy even with just old remastered maps, anything to add some variety.
N yes, I do understand that the grappling hook could possibly make the old remastered maps be unbalanced, but seeing as the Grappling hook is a pick up... Just dont have it in those levels if it would really make such a problem.
OR do put it in the maps, and make the grapple be the thing that everyone is scrambling for. Then your newest featured item for Halo Infinite would be valued even more in MP and could actually make the older maps a bit more spicy than what remastered maps usually feel like to the avid player base.
Super long comment, Sorry, but they really should have put all o their team on Forge and got that out as soon as possible, then transition over to co op. That way they could have the community making the content for them while they made co op with a full unit of devs on it.
The real full fledged Battle Royal, Project Tatonka can not get here soon enough.....
