Late last week, a pretty huge title was added to Xbox Game Pass in the form of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Square Enix's action adventure take on the Guardians of the Galaxy universe was a bit of surprise hit late last year, and it's a big get for Game Pass this close to launch.
So, we want to know how you've been finding the game thus far. We haven't had much time to play it yet here at Pure Xbox, with everything else on the cards, but we do plan on digging into it ASAP.
Does the story hold up as much as the critics thought around launch last year? Does the gameplay match up to the storytelling from developer Eidos Montreal?

Downloading it at the moment.
I've just completed the story last night loved it probably play through again to get the achievements i missed.
Played 5 chapters on my series s this weekend and love it , it’s beautiful, it’s fun , it’s a must play if you like adventure games.
I've also just finished the fifth chapter and enjoyed it. I'm completely oblivious of anything that's happened in the films but the story is entertaining and the gameplay is really easy to pick up and play.
Gamora character model is terrible
also all female models in this game are terrible
Great game - great looking, great acting. The gameplay is the only thing that’s an occasional blemish and make this a solid 8 for me. It’s just too fiddly when the action is on top of you. If it paused the action whilst issuing orders I think it would work better
I’m going to play it after I’m done with Elden Ring.
No interest. In my opinion, PS+ has been just as solid as Gamepass with new additions for me, unfortunately, and that’s not saying much. I did not renew Gamepass for this month. Will be rejoining in May when that PAC-Man collection drops… unless there’s something compelling in April. Would’ve preferred to see MS secure Tunic to GP with the money they spent.
I am and I'm not. I think sometimes it feels like there is so much happening on screen that I seem to miss certain moments and the huddle up thing was fun once or twice but it's a pain sometimes to stop mid action to do the huddle up (I'm not sure if it's skippable).
Other than the above, yeah it's a pretty fun game but I wouldn't have bought it myself.
Really enjoying it, glad I held out buying it.
@Bleachedsmiles you can change the strength of the slow down in the difficulty settings. Put it right up to 1 and it stops the action. I found it really useful to organise the chaos.
I bought it! Great game, all fun no bullsh*t!
Loving it. Didn't think I'd like the characters as much as the MCU versions but they're great.
@Pac_Bot Good to know, I have zero interest in the Marvel film universe but if this is a fun self contained story then I'll definitely give it a go.
I haven’t played much more than an hour of this game but I found it pretty boring. The gameplay is pretty slow and the combat isn’t that great. It all feels the same. The only interesting thing is the story, but it’s so padded out by the boring gameplay spots that I don’t find it very interesting. Probably just not my type of game, but to me I have so many other games to play that are a lot more fun than this.
@JoakimZ
Same. Whenever the hell that might be! 90 hours in and I don't think I'm even halfway yet.
It's great, but it really takes me out of the game, when some of the obviously Canadian voice actors (Peter and Rocket in particular) say ABOOT! 🤣
I will definitely give this try. I just need to find some time in between Elden Ring sessions.
Best game of the year i played so far, personal preference. I usually play 2 (or more) games in one sitting, but GOTG is the only one im playing which talks wonders about the game.
Im in chapter 12 (13 hs in) and just now the gameplay is starting to become a tiny bit repetitive.
Other than that The character development, story , dialogues, art direction are all truly astounding.
@DaverDaver Yeah, I’m about 50 hours in and I’ve only got two of the great runes so far. There is so much to do in this game!
