Stalker 2

Earlier this month, development on Stalker 2 was halted, due to the Russia and Ukraine situation. The team (based in Ukraine) was, understandably, switching its focus to more pressing, real world issues.

However, it's looking like development may resume soon, although not in Ukraine. Czech site Vortex is reporting that Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World is planning to move to a new office in Prague, the Czech capital.

According to the report, transcribed by VGC, "part of the team is indeed heading to the Czech Republic, where they are already registering for business". This hints that while the whole studio may not move, plans are in place to continue development, in some capacity, in the Czech Republic rather than Ukraine.

The chairman of the Association of Czech Game Developers, Pavel Barák, also told Vortex of these plans.

I can confirm that the Association was approached by GSC studio early last week saying they were looking at the Czech Republic and surrounding countries [...] They needed help from us on legal and employment matters.

Stalker 2 was set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass, in December 2022. It's unclear if the release date will now move as a result of the Ukraine situation.
