If there's one first-party Xbox title from last year that could use with a little more love, it's got to be Psychonauts 2 by Double Fine.
We absolutely loved the game ourselves, and even the head of Xbox Phil Spencer said it was "probably" his favourite title of 2021, and now it seems the absolutely crazy but magnificent sequel has won another award.
This time it's taken out "best narrative" at the Game Developers Choice Awards 2022:
Double Fine boss Tim Schafer also chimed in on social media with a shot of himself and the narrative team:
Psychonauts 2 ended up placing ahead of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Deathloop, It Takes Two and Unpacking. The GOTY award went to Inscryption.

It was my personal GOTY for 2021.
I never played the original and didn't know what to expect. Safe to say I was blown away.
It was my runner up for 2021 after It Takes Two. Awesome game and awesome story (even having not played the first one).
Richly deserved, really can't wait to see what's next from DF of the studios MS have picked up over the last few years there the ones that excite me most.
Good news, they got snubbed so many times, a multitude of nominations everywhere, and what I heard they only got one at the golden joystick awards for best xbox game.... Played the first one, and still have to finish part 2 (too many games, too little time atm).
@blinx01 same here!
Love Doublefine. The announcement that they were acquired by Microsoft was the moment I abandoned my Playstation and bought a Series X. Psychonauts 2 is amazing, all of the fun and creativity of part 1 with an added layer of sleek polish, and a little of that old Lucas Arts DNA embedded within.
Looking forward to what comes next from them and really excited about the future of Xbox in general with the massive amount of talent at their disposal throughout all of their studios!
I haven't finished the game yet, but so far it's REALLY good, and is a perfect sequel to the original. The storytelling really does deserve this award.
