WB Games has finally lifted the lid on some proper Hogwarts Legacy gameplay, and if we're honest, it's looking pretty fantastic. At PlayStation's recent State of Play — dedicated to the Harry Potter RPG — the developer showcases the game's wizarding world and what lies within.
The open world extends well beyond the school itself, with huge open areas explorable on your trusty broom. Some of the monsters out there look pretty nasty though, and you'll have to conjure up all of your magic to defeat them.
You'll start your adventure as a fresh-faced student at Harry Potter's magical school, where you can choose which house to join and begin your adventure from there. Hogwarts itself looks incredibly detailed, and we can't wait to dive into this one to be honest.
After the gameplay demo wrapped up, WB also treated us to a little behind-the-scenes video on how the developer is aiming to create an authentic Harry Potter universe with Hogwarts Legacy.
What do you think of this new Hogwarts Legacy gameplay? Let us know in the comments.

Hogwarts Legacy does not exist in a vacuum. There are important discussions being had about the views and opinions held by the creator of the Harry Potter universe – views and opinions which we do not agree with.
Our goal is to create and foster a positive environment for people – all people – to discuss and celebrate video games, not to amplify ignorance or provide a forum for unconstructive arguments. As per our community rules, we do not accept any form of hate speech on our platform.
Now this is a "AAAA" game right here.
Meh Harry Potter...dont think I can get excited even if it got brilliant reviews when it's out
This looks amazeballs, far exceeded my expectations. Just don’t know whether to get it on PS5 or Series X 🤔
2022 Holiday is going to be PACKED with RPG's
This looks like it’s going to be everything gamer HP have wanted
I’m not a fan of the books or movies but wow this does look really good, potentially even game of the year. I’ll probably buy it day one.
This looks so good and will be the biggest game of the year and the most wanted game this holiday season, hopefully it plays as great as it looked
I really like what they seem to have created here and the game looks well worth a AAA rating.
I'm not a huge Potter fan, but the lore and history they have used to build the world is well developed and I think this game has appeal for non fans like me too.
You can see some stuttering frame rates in some shots of course, but there's a lot of work and optimisation to come so I expect these to be gone by release date.
2022 is shaping up to be a classic gaming year...
It looks really good! But is there a “run” button? Man the character looks slow. (Didn’t watch the whole thing but the first several minutes it’s like he’s crawling). That would annoy me. I can physically move faster than that in real life and I’m getting older. A kid shouldn’t be that hobbled.
