WB Games has announced that its upcoming Batman title, Gotham Knights, is launching October 25th, 2022. Gotham Knights is described as an "open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet."
This time around, Gotham Knights doesn't focus on the Batman himself. In fact, Batman is dead, and it's up to Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin to take the reins and look after the city. That's a tall order because, if you've not heard, Gotham City isn't the most pleasant place to be.
From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos.
Hopefully we see more on the game real soon. In fact, given the timing of this announcement and PlayStation's upcoming State of Play, we could well see Gotham Knights there, although that's pure speculation. Here's some footage we have seen, from way back in 2020:
Will you be swinging back into Gotham City this October? Let us know below.

As long as they didnt change anything from the Arkham games in terms of gameplay and the way the game is set up, but instead only added new features and included more things to do such as collectibles and areas, then this is one of my most anticipated games! The Batman games were some of the best games i have ever played and they better not change much or anything about it!
I'm lowkey excited about this. The release date is slightly disappointing though since it's fairly close to Starfield. I'll probably get both games, though.
Just saw The Batman last night and loved it. Now Gotham Knights get a release date on my Bday. YES!
Two weeks before Starfield! This has looked good so far though, hopefully lives up to expectation and is greaat solo.
After watching gameplay of this, I can tell I wont like the characters very much. An underrated thing about batman is that he is pretty quite, especially during combat. These characters need to constantly say something snarky throughout combat, things like "tag, your it" after punching. I have a feeling there will be a lot of repetition with this in-combat dialogue and that gets annoying for me. Batman for the most part only talked when it was relevant to the story and I liked that.
Maybe they are targeting a younger audience with the style and humor of these characters. Hopefully I will still be able to enjoy the game, I am a big fan of the previous games. Spiderman can annoy me with this repetitive snarkiness too and I was able to enjoy those games so I'm still optimistic.
I don't think a "dead batman" is canon to the arkham series, or to the batman franchise. If you got the knightfall protocol in Arkham Knights, it eludes to "batman as we know him" dying, but not Bruce Wayne. I would expect to see something about him in this new game
@Somebody I am worried about this. I am hoping it stays to the Arkham vibes and gamestyle and not a fortnite vide
@The1bloodknight But this game doesn't follow the canon of Arkham universe with Arkham Knight (but funnily enough Suicide Squad game does!). Therefore batman can canonically be dead here.
@GhanaViking The movie was stunning.
Batman is 'dead'? Of course he is...
Definitely not infiltrating the Court of Owls as a Talons.
Killing off Batman puts me off. Couldn’t he just be in Metropolis helping Clark for a bit?
