2021 might be long gone at this point, but we're still getting the odd few Game of the Year awards cropping up, and the latest is courtesy of the New York Game Awards which has gifted the GOTY honour to Double Fine's Psychonauts 2.
In response, Xbox boss Phil Spencer took to Twitter today to share his congratulations with the team:
Elsewhere, Xbox Game Pass title Sable ended up scooping two awards for 'Best Indie Game' and 'Best Music in a Game', Life is Strange: True Colors won 'Best Writing in a Game', Resident Evil 7 actress Maggie Robertson received 'Best Acting in a Game', and Psychonauts 2 took home yet another award for 'Best World'.
Double Fine boss Tim Schafer also had a major part to play at the event, being presented with the prestigious Andrew Yoon Legend Award which "recognises individuals and organisations that exhibit a significant, sustained body of work that shows exceptional achievement and innovation".

Was my GOTY last year as well. Well earned.
Well-deserved.
Double Fine at it's best!
I was so excited for this game and it didn’t disappoint. Congratulations Double Fine! Looking forward to what their creative minds come up with next!
It's like the Obama meme of him giving himself the medal, lol. But no really, I've heard nothing but good things about this game. Even from those who were dunking on it before playing it.
Not exactly an award that many people follow in the industry, but I'm glad to see this game get awarded something, somewhere, because it really did deserve it. It's such a good game.
This game just made me smile from the moment i put it on the most fun I've had in years.
