Today's the big day if you've been waiting on Elden Ring! The game is out right now on Xbox, and it actually comes with a day one patch — although you may not have even noticed as it began rolling out prior to release yesterday.
So, what's included in the patch? It's not a whole lot of content, but rather adjustments to things like controls, frame rate drops and balancing, along with a few other things. Here's the full list of major patch notes:
- Improved player controls
- Addition and adjustment of BGM
- Text adjustments
- Balance adjustments
- NPC event fixes and adjustments
- Fixed frame rate drops under certain conditions
- Fixed text bug in some languages
- Fixed a bug that prevented the Xbox wireless headset from working properly
As you probably have seen by now, Elden Ring has got off to a fantastic start with the critics, already shaping up to be a potential Game of the Year winner for 2022 with a score of 97 for PS5 and 95 for Xbox Series X on Metacritic.
You don't need the New Zealand trick anymore — it's out right now across all regions, but remember that if you haven't bought it yet, you can use Microsoft Rewards to get 6000 points for free by purchasing it on the Microsoft Store.

Great...now fix the network problems. I am sure servers are getting hammered right now; but I shouldn't be forced to play in Offline Mode.
EDIT: Also, VRR for the win! The game looks silky smooth in Performance Mode. And, yes, I got my 6000 points.
I saw early that framerate was more stable on PS, has it improved on the Series X with this patch?
Dude I took days off work for this
If I don’t get to co op this weekend I’m gonna be super pissed off
Seems like there is a problem with updates, xbox is at version 1.2.0 and not 1.2.1 so there won't be any coop until they release another patch
@Dusk_Actual This is why you don't take time off for games when they first release.
They are NEVER finished at launch in this day and age.
@QueenKittenWrite oh okay, so when I took time off for The Division 2 launch and it went off without a hitch that was unfounded and I made a bad move.
I’ve been at this a long time. Online functionality should’ve been on point on release day. That is all.
