Here we go again! Elden Ring's release times were revealed earlier this week ahead of its launch on Friday, February 25th, and it's been discovered that you'll probably be able to play it early by switching to the New Zealand time zone.
This is because the game is apparently launching midnight local time in New Zealand, which lines up as 3am PT, 6am ET and 11am GMT on the 24th, so some players could be getting access pretty much an entire day early.
If you want to know how to switch to New Zealand on Xbox, here's how you do it:
How To 'Move To New Zealand' For Elden Ring On Xbox
- Sign in to your Xbox console.
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Select Settings > All Settings > System > Language & location.
- Select your new location from the Location list, and then select Restart now.
Before you do this, we can't stress enough that switching regions on Xbox is something to do at your own risk. It's something Xbox owners have been doing for a long time, but there's always the potential of getting punished for it.
Keep in mind that Microsoft also advises changing regions can potentially lock you out of changing to another one for a period of three months, although we've never seen any reports of this, so you should be OK.
Of course, there's also the option of waiting a bit longer for the release in your region, which might make more sense.
Are you going to be doing the New Zealand trick for Elden Ring on Xbox? Let us know in the comments.

I got over the FOMO a few years ago. If you wait for the $20 sale price you can buy 3 times the amount of games with the same gaming budget. I highly recommend waiting for the games to hit $20 especially with single player games. If the reviews are bad you can pass on it or decide if it's still worth the small pricetag. An added bonus is that games are always more polished by that time.
I'm sure elden ring is good but I wont know until later in the year and I wouldnt have it any other way.
I understand why people do this but it’s not for me.
I miss the days when games launched the same time worldwide.
That said, I'll probably just wait and get a GB key off cdkeys or something. Normally saves a few tenners free that way. Gotta use a VPN, but that only takes 2 seconds anyway.
I'm from canada i will wait midnight as i use to, it's more smart and safer i want to play elden but i will respect my country schedule. I don't want to put my account in danger as well.
I’m glad y’all are moving only virtually. We remain a hermit kingdom with our prime minister convinced we’re somehow better off keeping all foreigners out until October (even though covid is rife in the community)
The lockout is for old marketplace content which involves changing your ACCOUNT region, not your current ACCESS region.
This has been known a while
As long as you aren't paying NZ prices, things ain't cheap down here.
If only all these new users down here would prompt Microsoft to offer the full rewards program and cloud gaming here as well
I never take advantage of this as I always buy the physical disc.
omg just wait the day why go through all that just to play a game a day earlier.....
