The Anacrusis is one of two games launching with Xbox Game Pass next week, taking the form of a four-player, cooperative first-person shooter in which you embark on an "infinitely-replayable fight against alien hordes."
The game is launching as part of Xbox Game Preview (early access) on Thursday, January 13th, and IGN has been able to check out the first 15 minutes of gameplay, which you can watch above.
As many of the commenters have pointed out in response to the video, The Anacrusis definitely looks like it has Left 4 Dead vibes, although there have been some concerns about its "uninspired AI" as well. Fortunately, we can all check it out at no extra cost with Xbox Game Pass next week, and hopefully it turns out to be a hit!
"The Anacrusis is a four-player, cooperative first-person shooter set aboard a massive starship stranded at the edge of explored space. Team up with your friends in an infinitely-replayable fight against alien hordes to unlock perks, weapons, and new ways to play that you can share with your team!"

It’s like Left 4 dead and Deathloop had a baby! As it’s on GP I’ll probably check it out.
Bring all the coop games to game pass. Makes it really easy to play with friends and I don’t have to be in marketing to convince them to buy the actual product.
Oh look another "original" 4 player Co op shooter which I've lost count how many others have been released I've over the last 12 months and more to come.
Pass for me
@Alduin tbf the aliens game is a 3 player co-op game.
@Alduin yeah that's a fact for sure, I wholeheartedly agree
I want to like this...
... but I don't. It seems so stiff. Total unbalance in enemies and their behaviour, and actually, it just looks plain boring.
Look clean and generic, despite the retro futuristic look. Enemies look kind of boring and quite bland. Might "cloud try it" though!
Meh. Nothing about this really grabs me. And the artsyle is like, the worst things about the late 60s and early 70s all combined into one. If all that isn't enough, the second I see "perks" in a multiplayer game I immediately am no longer interested. I want a consistent experience. This was one of my most hated things about Back4Blood.
Hopefully it does well but it doesn't look like one for me.
@Royalblues Halo Infinite "runs" at 120fps. Very rarely does it ever actually hit 120fps though.
Both multiplayer and single player see huge dips in frame rate, especially on campaign. On top of that, the aggressive resolution scaling they use often. Akes things look like garbage. On foundation for example, one of the doors in the "open area" would go from looking like a door to wall art it dropped so bad.
Thankfully VRR does help a bit with frame drop, but with BFI enabled on the screen for a better experience, the FPS drops are definitely, and jarringly, noticable.
Hopefully they'll be fixing that in the future, but for now I'd be happy with them just fixing the online net code so it is actually playable and you don't get stuck in dialog box cascades like Windows 98.
I am not into the genre but like the vibe of the artstyle. Would love to play something in single player that looked like this.
Nessa is hot. That's the only positive I can find in this game.
@Alduin A:I is one of the best games of all time. it's a shame we got fireteam instead of A:I 2 but I have a bad feeling we won't be getting an isolation sequel. That's how it is when a good game gets made, it gets ***** reviews from hacks like Ryan McCaffrey of ign and then doesn't sell well and never gets a sequel.
I love me some mindless 4 player online co op games. So do my friends. We'll check it out this weekend, although it looks like it may not keep our attention for too long if this is all it offers. Love the art style, theme, colors.
