Earlier this month, we heard that the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy was potentially set to be pushed into 2023. It seemed plausible, given the fact that we know very little about the game as of yet. However, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar has reiterated the company's 2022 plans and there's some good news!
Right, so, his tweets are all a bit 'CEO-ish', but Kilar talked about Warner's current strategy across film, TV, and games. In short, there's some big stuff coming from Warner in 2022, and that includes both Hogwarts Legacy and Gotham Knights when it comes to games. Apparently.
At the minute, both of these games are still slated for 2022 then. We've seen a little more on Gotham Knights so that one might make it, but we have a hard time believing Hogwarts Legacy is coming this year.
Having said that, we sure want it to. Outside of the LEGO games, Harry Potter has been dormant for a while, and we're itching to go hands on with a new, open world game in that universe. We have faith that Avalanche Studios will have a real good go at it.
Which of these two Warner games are you most excited about? Let us know below.

Hogwarts Legacy does not exist in a vacuum. There are important discussions being had about the views and opinions held by the creator of the Harry Potter universe – views and opinions which we do not agree with.
Our goal is to create and foster a positive environment for people – all people – to discuss and celebrate video games, not to amplify ignorance or provide a forum for unconstructive arguments. As per our community rules, we do not accept any form of hate speech on our platform.
Both games look interesting but please delay Hogwarts Legacy if needed.
I was never really a big Harry Potter fan, but the Hogwarts game looks good. If it comes on gamepass I may try it. The Gotham Knights game looks good. I LOVED the Batman Gotham games. Hopefully this new Gotham game is good. They’ve been working on it for a long time and it just looks better every time I see it. Looking forward to this one.
Not sure why everyone thinks Hogwarts Legacy will be delayed?
The trusted leakers claim development is going well and it's aiming for a Q3 2022 release.
I think the real game in serious risk of being delayed is Suicide Squad. Can't see them releasing Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad towards the end of the year when both seem to be very similar with heavy online co-op elements.
You're a marketing wizard, Jason!
Also, bundling HBO, CNN, and video games into a single PR statement is dark arts.
@EvilSilentFrame Yeah, HP was cool for the first 3 or 4 books but overstayed its welcome, and really overstayed it with the films. But this game looks good. Like it could be for HP what KotOR was for SW: A better product than the original fiction. IF it's good.
@blinx01 I think because the game went silent, and zero information on it has escaped the void. That usually means trouble. Plus rumors after that.
As @Banjo- said, delay if the games need it. Despite Cyberpunk 2077, publishers haven't all caught on. That said, both games look fantastic. At least in concept. I haven't seen anything on either of them other than their reveal trailers.
@NEStalgia
I think they went radio silent because of the JK Rowling drama and wanted to avoid getting caught up in that backlash through franchise association.
A bit like how Fantastic Beasts 3 is out in April and we only got a trailer last month.
