Over the weekend, Dying Light 2 developer Techland revealed that it'd take roughly 500 hours to complete its upcoming sequel. This, of course, sparked controversy on game length, and how long it should take to finish your average AAA game.
Now though, the team has taken to twitter to clarify its comment. Basically, 500 hours is the figure needed to complete absolutely everything. Main story, side quests, collectibles, you name it. The core story takes closer to 20 hours. Ah, much better.
For those of you wishing to get a little more than 20 hours out of Dying Light 2, but not quite 500, fear not. 80 hours is the figure Techland is attaching to completing just the story and the side quests. This sounds reasonable enough to us.
If you're yet to be fully convinced by Dying Light 2, a final preview is coming up this week. The developer's "Dying 2 Know" series comes to a close on Thursday, with a final look at the game ahead of its release on February 4th, 2022.
How much time will you be putting into Dying Light 2?

So 80 hours for the 1000gs or Plat trophy? 500 for all the DLC and everything else in the game. That sounds a lot more reasonable
@MyThoughts31 Not sure why you think it would assume 80 hours for main and sidequests only would get you the 1000GS. Far more likely to be many of the unnecessary collectathons and multipe endings to get the full 1000gs.
That PR stunt backfired lol
@themightyant depends on whether they are arsewhoooos or not. Time will tell
@MyThoughts31 Couldn't' agree more!
Sadly I suspect there will be a lot of unnecessary hoops to jump through.
Someone at Techland must be walking out of the building right now while holding a cardboard box full of their office stuff.
Great month coming up. Hopefully they all do well and end up being great games.
So what I’m getting from this is 420 hours of collectibles… damn
The time keeps changing every day. This was already a "wait for reviews" game and this nonsense over game time has only reinforced that.
