Yesterday, January 13th, Techland finally offered up some console gameplay of Dying Light 2. Sadly, we didn't get to see all available versions just yet, but the short clip offered up some interesting cross-gen comparisons.
In terms of last-gen systems, we were shown some PS4 and Xbox One X footage. Both of these versions run at 30fps, and there's a noticeable visual leap for Xbox One X here. Foliage levels look more dense, and general visual clarity looks pretty similar to what we're seeing from PS5 and Xbox Series X.
In terms of those next-gen platforms, it's looking like another big frame rate boost. The Xbox Series X version is targeting 60fps here, and although the clip is short, that target does hold up.
Techland says that more console comparisons are coming later this month. We're hoping to catch a glimpse of the Xbox Series S version then, which is absent from the current comparison.
Does Dying Light 2 look impressive to you? Let us know below.

The first one, although cribbing a lot from other games, had enough that made it felt unique in many ways. Looking forward to this despite the apparent development hell. (edited: thanks @BBB)
This is the content I subscribe for.
@BBB You're right, my bad, i've conflated the two. NFT's on the brain due to Troy Baker. fixed.
Sadly no fire arms...
So hyped for this game! It's been a long wait! I was going to buy it for PS5 but I finally found a Series X during Christmas and my friend just bought a Series S, we both want to play it together after finishing Dying Light Platinum Edition for Switch. I guess I'll be buying the Xbox version...
I'm looking forward to this game but sadly it launches in a very busy period for me.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus - 28th Jan - Nintendo Switch
Horizon FW - 18th Feb - PS5
Elden Ring - 25th Feb - Series X.
Plus now Hitman 3 is getting added to Game Pass.
I can't cope...LOL
This thread gives me the opportunity to say what I was thinking the other day.
Certain games like FH5, HFW and third party cross generation games. When played on the top models of the old generation, Xbox one x, PS4 Pro.
We really haven’t come that far this new generation.
For all the specifications and SSDs and new tech in the new generation the top end of the old generation are hardly behind. Yes some better effects, slight improvement on resolution and fps, but even those seem to have limits on the new generation.
When went from one generation to the next in the old days, like SNES to N64 you knew about, with games like Mario 64 and Wave Racer, on release day.
Maybe more power is catching up with diminishing returns.
Maybe to unleash more power of this new generation would cost so much time and money to develop for to make a game so graphically amazing that it showed a big step, it wouldn’t make business sense.
So far this new generation is like someone doing 10% better at something.
@Dezzy70
Maybe a cross-gen problem? Developpers can't push new consoles to their limits because of old gen limitations.
Is Dying Light a bad game? I read people saying that it is but that Dead Island is better.
