Xbox has previously noted how it wants to bolster its Japanese video game offerings, and with this in mind, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition is now available on the platform.
The Spike Chunsoft visual novel adventure series is currently celebrating Its 10th anniversary, and as part of this, the first game's anniversary version has been released on Xbox One and Windows 10. It's also playable on Xbox Series X|S, and can be accessed via the Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscription services.
This original Danganronpa was first released in 2010 on the PlayStation Portable. Here's a bit about the anniversary edition via the official PR:
The first entry of the series introduced the killing game between trapped high school students and the Class Trials where they weed out the killer. This entry drew widespread attention for its shocking setting and steadily grew in popularity with its cast of loveable characters, mysterious story, and talented voice cast.
The Anniversary Edition features a gallery where players can listen to character voices, as well as view character expressions, in-game illustrations, and character references.
In the acclaimed series, you must use high-speed deductive action to expose a murderer. It all starts when Monokuma, a self-proclaimed headmaster, traps extremely talented high schoolers from around the world inside his academy. To escape, Monokuma forces the students to play a killing game and identify the murderer in twisted Class Trials. When a body is discovered, you will investigate, gather evidence, and question your classmates before the turbulent spectacle of a Class Trial.
As you determine who to refute, the fully-voiced arguments by classmates add to the tense atmosphere. Class Trials combine deduction and action elements to create an exciting gaming experience unlike any other.

Wow Iām so excited to dive in
Saw this not long ago when I randomly decided to browse Game Pass. I love these surprises.
Nice! Keep the Japanese games coming, Xbox!
Ok that's freaking awesome, especially if it can get touch controls. It's been in my ps backlog for years and I was tempted to buy on switch. Xcloud ftw!
I've strangely only played the second one. It was good even if I'm not a huge fan of visual novels. Might give this a go once gaming calms down a bit, but it's safe to safe I'm getting my money's worth from game pass so far this year š
Been waiting for Dan to come to Xbox. Still some growing pains as the series didn't mature over here, similar to Yakuza. So... is this the first game? And are we going to get the sequels ever??
Played this on the vita when it first released and its a really good visual novel, if you like the phoenix Wright style investigation and court battles then this is for you
Wow just bought Danganronpa Decadence on Switch but looks like I will start here instead. Awesome!
Xbox again adding the Japanese games. Very nice.
Wow, just yesterday I wished that this would come to Xbox.
That's a great series. Huge recommend to all who have yet to try it!
Seems like a safe guess the other 3 games that came to Switch last year will also come to Xbox soon and being in Game Pass day 1 Xbox release. Probably a staggered setup like Yakuza and Final Fantasy.
Also it seems today is going to be the full list of Game Pass games for the 2nd half of January.
Great! I almost bought these on Switch at christmas but I'm glad I didn't now!
Thank you Microsoft, please keep the Japanese games coming. At least there trying.
So this is a remaster of the first in the series right?
I've wanted to try it for years, though will struggle to prioritise it with all the certified bangers coming to Game Pass.
Japanese games like this is exactly what the Xbox needed. Great job. Keep em coming.
now that is cool. I will be getting on Switch but its awesome to see Xbox players join in on the fun.
Hoping Goodbye Despair and V3 will come soon
@isturbo1984 yes this is the first game. I do hope the sequels do come to Xbox too. Danganronpa recently released on Switch the last time I checked. Now Xbox owners can check this title out.
