Here at Pure Xbox, we're eagerly awaiting the Xbox Series X and Series S version of Cyberpunk 2077. It feels like an age since the game's wonky console launch in late 2020, and we're hoping the next-gen version will improve things significantly.
Thankfully, it looks like we won't have to wait too much longer. While the major update is planned for a vague "Q1" release, things are already happening. Late last week, the Cyberpunk 2077 PC version was updated on Steam, for the first time since last October. The update isn't public yet, but it should be in the near future.
This could be a pre-patch for the big update, as we're now firmly in Q1 2022 territory. We've seen nothing on the console side of things just yet, but given the shape of last-gen versions, next-gen is likely a huge priority for the developer.
Then, there's the small question of DLC. CD Projekt Red is yet to deliver anything major for Cyberpunk 2077, and PC players are beginning to speculate on what will be included with the next-gen patch.
Will you be giving Cyberpunk 2077 another go on next-gen? Let us know below.

They have to make the new-gen version of The Witcher 3, too.
I played it twice after lauch when I got all the achievements. I probably test it when next gen update comes.
I'll be waiting for the reviews. And a discount.
Bought it at launch, found it boring and never started a second playthrough. I'll give it another shot when the next-gen launches. If I still find it boring then I'm done with this game.
Just keep delaying it until it is READY. Not needing months more patches after the fact.
I own this game physically, cost was 5 bucks on Amazon last year. I am eagerly awaiting this update. Hoping by the spring I have an XsX.
Looking forward to it, really enjoyed what I played but decided to put it on hold until the update dropped.
@Banjo- CDPR aren't making the new gen port version of The Witcher 3. That's being done by Saber Interactive.
Even with all the bells and whistles of a next-gen makeover it’s still a very average game underneath it all. I’m more excited for The Witcher 3 upgrade.
Like everyone else here, unless CDPR is patching in a better campaign, even with better visuals, the game is average at best. After all the hype and then wreckage, I played the game on Stadia (where it ran totally fine, unlike the other console versions), and was completely underwhelmed, and it had nothing to do with the technical aspects of the game. It’s just a very average open world game. After years of making fun of Ubisoft’s quest structures, Cyberpunk went and doubled down on them, and arguably made a lesser game than Ubisoft’s bloated open worlds. I don’t know why they don’t just cut their losses with Cyberpunk and move on to something better, learning from the mistakes… or at least just give full assets to the Witcher because CDPR has done amazing things for that series.
@Shigurui Thanks for the information.
Do we know if the "Next Gen" version will be a free upgrade as I keep seeing it going cheap second hand, and may be worth a punt if I can play the updated version.
I wonder if the planned dlc is expanding the game with new areas, weapons, etc. Or just a patch style dlc update, same city, just added more icons to clear.
@Shigurui that's interesting. Saber has done wonders with the switcher III port. I wonder what magic they can do with more power.
It runs pretty well on my Series S. I'm on my second playthrough now, but I'm going to hold fire before I go back to it, in case the update drops soon. It'll be something special in 60fps glory.
@PhhhCough I've heard good things about Switcher 3. Saber also helped 343i knock the MCC into shape. Seems this X|S port is in fairly good hands.
@Microbius That's good to hear. It may be that the second hand price could go up when the update is released so would be worth buying now rather than later.
Though of course there's no guarantee that the next gen version won't be just as messy, but just load faster.
I'll give it a try but I'm not holding my breath!
@Microbius Not too bad. There's a used copy in my local pawn shop for £12 so I'm tempted. Though I've got other games I'd like to play, and given their history do I want to take a gamble that THIS will be the release without bugs?
