We've covered this a couple of times now here at Pure Xbox, but the date is creeping up fast — the classic Xbox 360 Halo games will be sunsetting their online services in just a couple of weeks on January 13th, 2022.
Fortunately, this doesn't affect the Master Chief Collection at all, so you can continue to play the likes of Halo 3 and Halo 4 on Xbox One, Series X and Series S through that collection. Also, even the Xbox 360 versions will be keeping parts of their servers alive — you can see a full table of all the changes in the picture below:
"To date, we’ve juggled future-facing work and priorities with continued upkeep of Halo’s Xbox 360 legacy services. Maintaining these legacy services today requires significant time and resources which directly impacts the studio’s ability to support projects like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite."
The vast majority of players will have migrated over to the Master Chief Collection at this point, but if you're still enjoying the games on Xbox 360, or you're eager to pick up any online-based achievements you might have missed, you've only got a couple of weeks left to take advantage. Time to get that dusty Xbox 360 out of the attic!
Digital sales have also now been discontinued for the Xbox 360 versions of these games.

I just finished Halo Infinite Campaign earlier today. Easily the best Halo game 343 has made and easily the best Halo since Halo reach. Great story and great campaign.
I suggest anyone who needs Halo 3 online achievements keep checking True Achievements, at least 10 sessions a day being held boosting at the moment. If you are going for the 50 exp I suggest you wait and do this on 7 for 7 on January 7th playing all day. Halo 4 is still completable even if you haven't played it before but Reach will take too long now. So Halo 3 and ODST should be boosting focus.
My favorite era of Halo. I stuck mostly to the campaigns (these days it's exclusively to the campaigns in any game series) but I enjoyed some Halo 3 multiplayer as well back in the day. I still say it's the best all-around entry in the series. Reach had a slightly better campaign but added all up, the combo of great single and multi put 3 over the others.
I'm surprised the supported them as long as they did. Good work MS.
