Xbox has announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming is officially available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S starting today, with the feature previously being made available for Xbox Insiders a few weeks ago.
This means for subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, players in 25 different regions will be able to access the cloud versions of Xbox games via the Game Pass app, allowing them to be streamed rather than downloaded.
"We’ve built it so the experience is fast, easy, and a great way to discover your next favorite game while saving space on your hard drive for the games you plan to play again and again."
And yes, this does mean that next-gen Xbox Series X and Series S games are slowly becoming playable on Xbox One as well, with The Medium, The Riftbreaker and Recompile all available from today. Various other additions such as the popular Microsoft Flight Simulator will arrive on Xbox Cloud Gaming for console in 2022.
"So, boot up your console, look for the cloud icon, and jump into your next favorite game.
This journey to bring Cloud Gaming to more than a billion devices has been a true community effort. We simply wouldn’t be here today without this partnership, thank you."
Will you be making use of Xbox Cloud Gaming on console? Let us know down in the comments.

@SplooshDmg That was my first thought as well
Nice! With the limited storage space on the series s this will make trying out other games or freeing up space easy
Good stuff. I'll use this to test games I'm intrigued by first before downloading them.
O love this (streaming) about gamepass. Despite having XSX I have no issues with old gen getting it too (especially since you can stream to pc and phones already, so why not Xbox own consoles?). Does not work with a kinda of games due to latency, but when it's not a bit g issue it's just awesome
Within the last year my original Xbox One has gone from nearly neglected to one of my primary consoles thanks to all of these Game Pass features and games.
What are the requirements speed wise for this? What connection?
I wonder if you can stream a game while having it downloading at the same time too.
This is awesome, for many reasons! But my concerns are input latency and graphical fidelity/degradation. No harm in finding out, considering it's included with that great service, gamepass.
A great day for Xbox One players.
This is terrific for those still struggling, hopefully native TV apps are soon!
This will make them weekly quests so much easier
Nice! There's not really any Series X exclusives on clud now that I'd want to play, but it'd be good to play Flight Simulator when it's available.
Brilliant. Being able to check out any Game Pass game in seconds without worrying about a download is an absolute game changer.
I have had this as an insider on xbox one s digital. It works really well and great to uninstall big games and just play in the cloud. It also picks up your saves. Works really well, well done microsoft and great not having to wait for games to install.
I have this option on my SX for about 2 to 3 weeks
aprox. because of the insider program, I've used it to check out games, if I like a particular game I'll download it, just because the playability over the cloud is kinda strange, a lot of input lag and some image artifacts, since I have a wired 200mb connection, I guess that the internet speed is no issue here, it seems more like a server side issue. Other than that it's a great to feature to have.
I just tried it after running an update.
There's no lag at all but the bitrate is heavily impacted. My download speed is 400mb in my desktop, so im pretty sureinternet speed has nothing to do with this.
I will use Xbox Cloud to try games before proceeding to install them.
A new feature is always welcome Gamepass is really something!
LOL this is incredible, they launched this literally hours after my XSX died, so now I can play xCloud on my old X1X. You all have me to thank for this. This news article wasn't even here when I asked about it in the forum
I'm so glad this is a thing.
@NEStalgia what’s wrong with your XSX?
@mousieone It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off its whining coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!!
THIS IS AN EX-BOX!!
Yes, sadly, it's a doorstop now. Ran fine all year, played FH5 a few days, played it last night and then while playing, almost done, it just powered down, and wouldn't come back up. Unplugged for a while as they suggest, still nothing on the power switch, totally down. Likely the power supply died. It wasn't running terribly hot or anything, even. Really weird. I don't know if "FH5 broke it" by pushing it too hard and overheating, or if it was flaky and just gave up or what.
Fortunately even though were like 5 days out from 1 year purchase date they showed it still had about 2 weeks on warranty, so I can send it in for service, but I'll be streaming and Playstationing for a good while I think. I'd like to try to find XSX to buy to keep as spare after this, but, obviously, they basically don't exist for sale. Half considered an S for the role, but that's probably wasted money since it doesn't really give me what I want.
So I hooked the X1X in its place and luckily they just added streaming on console today so I might play in grainy 1080p 30fps glory for a while (or go back to slow HDD loads and 4k), or just switch over to all PS for a while. But I'm going to be nervous about the XSX even after it comes back.
@NEStalgia well as a spare I’m sure the XSS is fine but I’m still sad about your system. Streaming is fine too but maybe buy a cord to directly plug the Xbox into the modem
Awesome, will be using for the reward quests for sure. I had to do the Conan one by cloud yesterday on my laptop (only have a Surface Laptop Go, great daily driver but not a gaming beast) because there was no way I was d/l 149gb or something for a few minutes of effort.
Welcome to the party, everyone!
@WCB First thought also, yesterday was like no way I´m gonna download 140+gb for the weekly challenge, but maybe now I can stream the game... Had it as an insider for a while, but never got around to use it, play games on the consoles only, but for tryouts this is gonna be great.
@NEStalgia Series X is suppose.to get hot, shows the fan working. Sorry to hear about your Xbox though =(
