Forza Horizon 5 has been almost unanimously praised since its release on Xbox Game Pass earlier this month, but if you look hard enough, you'll still find pockets of players who don't think it's quite living up to expectations.
In a thread over at the official Forza Reddit community, various players vented their frustrations with the game's progression model, pointing out that you can get a lot of money and vehicles from pretty much the outset, and it doesn't take much to unlock the various events on offer either. Here's a sample of some of the comments:
There are a surprising number of comments along these lines, but others have also pointed out that Forza Horizon has been like this for a few iterations now, and some fans might be getting "bored" simply because it's familiar:
Of course, the majority have been very happy with Forza Horizon 5 so far, and even players' criticisms have tended to acknowledge that it's still a great game — but the progression model definitely doesn't seem to be a hit with everyone.
What do you make of it? Have you got "bored" already with FH5? Let us know down in the comments below.

Every.Horizon game is like that. I find that FH games are meant to be played a bit at a time, it's why it has taken me this long to finish FH3. If you try to go through FH from start to finish you will get bored really quick but if you play FH in between other games sort of like a pallet cleanser then you don't get bored of it too quickly.
I will play FH3 for a few weeks straight then not play it for months then go back to it again for another few weeks.
Yes, it's weird and there's not much of a plot or progression, but that's all the Forza way. It's alright with me. I played it for like 40 ish hours as well, and I'm thinking of soon moving on. Still, I think of it as a great game and will remember it as such
It's excellent, and as stated the very open and generous progression system is the same as before really.
However I must admit I don't find it as compelling to play as 4, or as addictive.
Playground Games struck gold with 4 imo, I think there's a reason FH4 elevated the series to a new level of popularity. It has a certain charm and level of immersion I find kind of lacking in FH5 tbh.
FH5 is probably still the second best game in the series, I just think FH4 is extra special.
@Tasuki
This. That's what I'm doing. My friend told me about an exploit on how to get skill points and credits really quick and he's level 250 already, while I'm at level 45 and taking my time with it. Enjoying the sights and sounds a lot, as well. Needless to say, my friend is already bored with the game.
I feel like I’ve hardly done anything but I’ve also unlocked every event and joined the hall of fame. My map is just full of ‘new’ races and events I’ve not even touched.
I wouldn’t say I’m bored with it but it hasn’t hooked me either, it’s still okay to jump into for an hour a few times a week. I hate the wheelspins still I’m sad they couldn’t come up with anything else, there’s no feeling of reward from it, it just sucks and feels cheap imo.
I was surprised how quick everything did open up.
The thing is I think the game is based on being open in nearly every way very quick so you can go drive and play where you wish.
Though the challenge of having to reach higher targets to progress and open new areas may in this case been a slightly better option.
Humans tend to like something to work towards and a sense of achievement, then followed by reward.
@Royalblues
You have a good point there, most games I take my time enjoy the sights and breath in the atmosphere and collect a lot things. I have put in 140 hours to assassins creed vanhalla and finally in the last area, now thats what I call playing a chilled.
I would say getting bored after 45 hours or so is pretty good going. I understand people racing through games these days because there’s just so. Many. Games. My backlog is stressing me out (okay it always has, but these days it’s worse than ever).
@gollumb82 Right that probably a majority of the bored people are those who use exploits or cheats. For some reason gamers nowadays believe it'd cool to beat a game as fast as they can so instead of enjoying games they use cheats and exploits.
I do agree that they do move things along too quickly, it feels like it's progressing much quicker than FH4. Now I've barely done any actual events and already i have all the festival's setup and one fully maxed out. I'm also a bit letdown by the lack of traffic on the roads, it's drastically reduced from 4 right? If I see a car in the road it's a shock almost.
Now I'm still fully in love with the game and looking forward to playing many more hours in it but there is certainly some things that they can improve still. I've yet to try tweaking the cars myself vs just getting a preset from the community. Also need to get me a Warthog... next time i log on i feel like that's happening.
@Royalblues Exactly. As I said above, gamers nowadays think that it's cool to beat game as fast as they can due to crap like speed runners. Instead of enjoying and savoring the game like it's meant to be.
Does anyone else find the notion of being bored by video games a bit ironic? Like I get it, I get bored of some games as well but why is that? Games are supposed to be fun, yet nowadays there are so many topics about how X or Y game is so boring.
I feel like we are just so spoiled that we are able to play so many different games to the point that we become bored of them, and that's kinda sad. Like imagine telling an average joe who has zero experience with video games that you are tired of playing games. That person would think you're absolutely mental.
That's why I think it's important with variety, because you can get bored by doing pretty much anything repeatedly over a long period of time. Work tasks, video games, music, TV shows, sports, you name it, if you do too much of the same thing you will get bored of it.
So just to tie this back in with Forza Horizon 5, I think you should just take a break from the game if you're getting bored of it. Because in all honesty, if you're bored from playing video games, then maybe you're playing too many games and need to look for something else to do (not that I'm explicitly telling people this, I'm just sharing my perspective on things). I personally find watching TV shows and movies to be a nice change of pace whenever I'm tired of gaming.
Played 23 hours of the game, after I finished all the stories and got into the hall of fame. I stopped. I played it too much consecutively, so naturally got bored and moved on.
"I've sat down and played the game constantly for the last 2 weeks and now I'm bored." - Some gamers (probably streamers)
"Did you think about playing it for only a few hours a week in between other titles like most gamers do with racing games?" - Commentary
"Er...... No."
I've spent the last 2 weeks driving on every road to unlock that achievement. I've still got every event to do!
@LtSarge Since it's very similar to at least the previous 2 (couldn't comment on the first two games at all), I can understand people maybe getting burnt out on 5 more than the average game of it's caliber.
So, in the end, it's more game specific than just about getting bored of gaming in general. Not knocking the game at all as I'm sure it is as good as people say it is, but maybe if they found ways to "spice" it up a bit, then maybe some wouldn't feel they were getting bored or should take a break from it. I'll finally give it a try after I'm done with my on again off again playing of Forza Horizon 4, but it'll likely be a while after that. I don't mind getting into it late like I did with 4.
You guys really need to stay off Reddit. Seriously it’s a complain fest about everything.
The fact that you can sink 40 hours into it is pretty good.
@LtSarge Yea but see this why some people don’t finish games. Unless the game makes a major change mid game.
Xbox fans are our own worst enemies sometimes. Get a brilliant game and find every little thing and reason to hate it.
To be honest I felt like that since I started playing it. It just isn’t hitting me the right way. Maybe it’s because you can only do so much in a racing game.
I made the mistake of trying to rush through FH4 right before this came out. I probably have 70+ hours between the two games. I wouldnt say it has gotten boring, I just dont play it every single day anymore. I still play it 2 or 3 times per week.
FH5 is amazing.
Why is this even an article..you will find negative threads on Reddit for EVERY game...I'm no big Forza fan but seems pretty odd to make this an article
The game must be doing something right because I just can't do racing games but I've made it to the hall of fame...and I'm probably done now...but most racing games I lose interest straight away
I've been having a blast. Huge collection of cars. Playing with wheel and pedals though and pretty much just been driving the hard top version of my car. A VW Golf.
@Tasuki
Yup. The very fact that a website called 'howlongtobeat' exists is testament to what games are to some gamers.
What the hell? Has this site become the “let’s find some negative posts about Xbox games on Reddit and write a story about it” site? Is there nothing better for you to do? I mean you even say “if you look hard enough”. These stories are getting ridiculous.
Still loving this game (and Halo Infinite for that matter).
I haven't got it yet but I feel the same about horizon 3 & horizon 4 you just keep unlocking events way too fast & the lucky wheel thing makes getting cars way too easy my favourite part of the horizon games are the showcase events & there aren't many of them
@Tasuki exactly. I mix it in between rocket league and halo or some other game I'm playing at the time. I jump in do a couple of races and bounce, maybe squeeze in a danger sign haha.
End of the day if you know Horizon you know what to expect. Open world games like this are what you make of them. If you get bored then this isn't the game for you. Simple.
@CrazyJF Yes to Mistborn and The Expanse. You have fine taste sir.
Welcome to Forza? Always a reason to complain!
I just open my map and see a 100 things to do. I think they should dial that back a bit, as I don't feel I've really earned it, nor have I even gotten that much better at the game to actually need to earn it.
Hard to care cause I got it off GamePass, but I would be bummed if I had paid for it, and don't see me buying any of the add-ons.
So you're now scouring reddit for news? You're literally looking for drama. What has happened to this site? It's become as bad as twitter
@awp69 Purexbox seems to be cannibalizing itself from the inside
@gollumb82 I use HLTB to decide how much value I’m getting from a game.
Racing games aren’t my thing I played for about 10 hours same as 4 that’s it. As far as racing games go I’d say it’s good.
@k3lt0n
Do you honestly think a game is worth more if it's longer? Personally, I prefer shorter games but I'd never say that a game is bad because it's short. Take The Order 1886 on PS4. It's 6 hours long and I loved every minute of it (can't say the same about most open world games).
One and Three were near perfect for this reason. Two you got bogged down in multi race championships over and over and it was still very good but not magic. Four and five and miles off the amazing three.
They’ve gone full blown GaaS and loads of other elements all thrown in and it’s a mess. Three felt well curated and even the Forzathons were amazing.
This is just a mess. Flood you with a million things to do but you have Lambos and top top cars from day one…
I want to start with a banged up Fiat Uno turbo and become king of the roads….
More racing… less fake influencer and grind nonsense
@gollumb82 a racing can be infinite for me. A game like Forza could keep spawning random race events with different restrictions and weather….. that would be ace but Forza quickly has 100s of things to do on the map and they keep coming but within 5/6 hours you have so much money and access to pretty much all the fastest cars…. Motivation goes and the grind style Forzathon seasons don’t cut it.
But on non driving games I agree 8-20 hours is the sweet spot for a story surely
For me the worst parts are that online modes mostly suck and also when you have tons of cars you can't really win races with lower tier cars, there's just not much incentive to pick cars besides the highest rated one.
@Stocksy
Agreed on all points. I'm under the impression that Horizon 4 was a bit less intimidating. In Horizon 5 I'm having trouble picking an activity because there's so much to do. As for infinite playing time- this is what made me fall out of love with Destiny 2. I just couldn't justify the time investment
Clearly sandbox games like this aren't going to be for everyone. Some people love to have a lot of linearity to their games with the game constantly telling them what to do next. Forza Horizon games always worked as the type of games you play at your own pace. Personally one of the reasons why I have always loved the series so much is how quickly the games open up and allow you to just do your own thing. Right now I have put in over 100 hours into the game and the map is full of things I haven't done yet. I spend most of my time just upgrading and tuning cars.
As they say, different strokes for different folks. A lot of people seem to love those linear cinematic style action games, but personally I always found them to be very boring. A lot of people seem to love JRPG's, but I could never get into them. Some people don't seem to like big open sandbox games like this, but I love them. This just happens to be my thing, and I am sure people who get bored with it have their own things.
@gollumb82 No, I don't think a game is bad because it is short. But quantity of content is a factor in deciding whether or not to get a game.
@gollumb82 four was still too busy - and strange movie director missions and stuff. I’m ok with not everything being right up my street but if in the first few play sessions I’m feeling a bit burnt out by the grind - I stupidly decided to try and unlock some of the Forzathon stuff - it’s not a good sign. I think I need to go back and just ignore all that.
@JayJ do you genuinely prefer it to three? Two was nothing like this. The map didn’t have loads of stuff to do and it still worked. The gradual unlocking of events in 1 & 3 was far better. It’s about balance for me. I love open world racers. Not apparently not open world racers as a service.
So, basically the same reason I stopped playing FH4
I wouldn’t say I’m bored, but it doesn’t have the same pull as FH4 did. It’s far too familiar. 10-15 hours in and it’s not holding my attention for long. Im sure I’ll be back many times, but not right now.
The online networking issues don’t help as I can’t often connect to Forzathon and take part to get points/rewards
@KilloWertz I totally get that, but that kinda ties back in with my point that if you've played so much Forza Horizon before and find the latest one to be boring then that's because you've played them so much that maybe it's time for something else. And I don't know if it's fair to demand that the series should reinvent its formula. There's only so much you can do (especially with racing games) before the franchise loses its identity. Take Assassin's Creed as an example, people got tired of those games that Ubisoft turned the series into an open world action RPG. While some people loved that, there were also a lot of long-time fans who became disgruntled by that change. It's definitely a more complicated topic than we might think, as change could be met with positivity from some but with negativity from others.
@CrazyJF It's the same thing with me. When I was younger, I was able to play games for hours upon hours without any breaks. Now I can barely play for an hour or two before feeling like I need to take a break. Don't know if that's because I'm older now or that I've played so many games that nothing can really capture my interest anymore. Although sometimes I do find one game that I'm able to play for many hours in a row, but it doesn't happen that often.
On a side note, I've watched a couple of episodes of The Expanse and I really liked it! Need to continue watching it one of these days.
@mousieone I don't think there's anything wrong with not finishing games. There's no rule that says you need to see the credits before being able to put a game away. If you've played a game for 10 or 20 or 30 hours and you feel like you're done with it, then by all means move on to another game. I think most people just feel like it's a waste to buy a game and not play through everything, kinda like how your parents told you to always finish your food. If you play these games through Game Pass however, you shouldn't feel required to finish them compared to having bought them. But even then you should just move on to something else if you don't feel like playing it anymore.
To me Forza Horizon games are for playing as an inbetweenie when you need a break from your main games. So it’s going to take me months to unlock everything and it’s nailing it.
@LtSarge Yeah it seems like a lot of people complaining just aren't really the type of people who this game was really made for. Like it's great how it's become a series that apparently everyone can enjoy, where you don't have to be a car enthusiast to have fun, but at the same time it's a game that is clearly centered around appealing to car enthusiasts. Gamers who don't have much interest in cars will probably get bored quickly, but if you have an interest in cars there's endless fun to be had.
Like you said, you can't mess with a games formula too much without ruining it for people who enjoyed it the way it was. If they make the game appeal more to people who don't really have an interest in cars, and just want a more linear "do this, do that" experience where they can get a sense of accomplishment for beating the game, it would come at the expense of people like me who just like to relax, build cars, and beat the occasional race on our own time.
@JayJ seriously 90% of the games I play are racing games. I love cars and Forza H3 is one of my fave games of all time. I still find this game a bit of a grind and not holding my attention. You are making massive assumptions. I bought the Forza controller and was really looking forward to it. I’m sure I’ll still sink 100+ hours by the end of it. It just could and should have been loads better.
@oconnoclast 3 was a dream for real racing enthusiasts. It was perfect or near perfect. This is made for people that wanna do “fun stuff in fast cars” - most real racing enthusiasts want to build up to the worlds fastest cars. I spent hours tweaking cars in 3. Racing in 100s of different cars. It was a dream.
@oconnoclast I just think the distinction needs to be made between fans of racing games and car enthusiasts. There's a lot of gamers who enjoy racing games without having a real interest in cars. Forza Horizon, since day one, has always been about building your ideal cars and racing them, with the race classes allowing for a wide variety of cars. For me a lot of the fun has always been centered around building various cars around the various classes and ratings, the races are just something to do with them. In other words it's always been focused on allowing the players to be creative. Most traditional racing games don't allow for any creativity, and if they do it's just something purely cosmetic like a car livery. The whole attitude behind Forza Horizon harks back to the original Forza series, which has always been focused around being a Gran Turismo competitor, and that series has often had similar arguments made about it as well.
It's like there is no need to be condescending here, if you aren't into cars that isn't something to shame people about, but at the same time these games are clearly centered around appealing to car enthusiasts and that distinction needs to be made. Kinda like how you don't have to be into farming equipment to enjoy Farming Simulator, but it sure helps. I just think as the Forza Horizon series has managed to appeal to a wider audience, it's taken on a lot of people who won't exactly enjoy it as much as others, and that all comes down to personal interest.
The way I look at it, there's no shortage of games out there, and I am sure the people who are losing interest in this have something else that they find more interesting.
Good job stoking the flames here pure xbox. Let's make this site a reddit form instead
@JayJ I think the issue with people in general is that they want franchises like Forza to become more like other franchises that they like. Again with the Assassin's Creed example, one common complaint about AC: Odyssey is that it's too big and that they should've made the game smaller. Why? Not all games need to be a certain size just because those appeal more to you. There should be games with small map sizes like Yakuza, with fairly large sizes like GTA and with huge sizes like AC: Odyssey because they offer different experiences. Yakuza is more about details and immersion, GTA is about creating a sandbox experience, and AC is about exploration and discovery. So why take that away from people who want that?
And imo, I think the Forza Horizon formula is great, there's no need to change it but they are most welcome to introduce new ideas like seasons in FH4 that don't disrupt the core formula. But that might simply not be enough for some people.
@oconnoclast to be honest it was mocking the person a few above who suggested those moaning weren’t real car fans……. I hate people that put down others by saying “this game wasn’t for them” - this game couldn’t be more for me….Apologies…..
@oconnoclast Well first off the racing is all dependent upon how you set it up. Like if you are just sticking to single player races with the AI in an easy difficulty, it will probably be an easy race for you. The cars you race are also dependent upon your category, and if you never upgrade anything to optimize it around a class then you will probably be racing whatever stock models are close to the same class rating in that category. This is because you are really meant to upgrade your cars in order to get the most out of these games, if you just want to race cars without having to modify them you are probably better off playing something else. I know for the fact that the game can get extremely hard if you crank up the difficulty as well, and the online racing is where will you will always find the real challenge if you are the competitive gaming type who enjoys that sort of thing.
@oconnoclast Yeah I totally agree with you. I think this is just a problem with how there is a select few gaming communities that seem to have a disproportionately loud voice in the gaming scene, and those sites tend to appeal to very specific kind of audience who more often than not share very similar taste and thinking. It results with people who have a specific taste in video games more or less demanding everything follows a formula that they are comfortable with, because that appeals to their personal interests when it comes to gaming. That's fine up to a certain point, but it becomes a problem when you get a bunch of people who aren't exactly the target audience for a game trying to have all the influence on it. When a game tries to appeal to everyone, you often wind up with jack of all trades, master of none results. If there is anything game developers need to focus on right now, it's the need to standout. They aren't going to do that if they listen to these people who want everything to follow the same few formulas they like.
@oconnoclast Honestly one of the biggest problems I have with the game right now is the AI. If you were to do some online racing you would probably notice a lot more distinction between how various tunes and cars perform, but with the AI all the cars seem to more or less perform about the same and get driven about the same.
I'll be honest, my favorite system from Forza Horizon was the very first game where you had to level up to earn different colored wristbands, and each wristband gave you access to a new set of races. I really liked that system.
I also haven't play FH5 as much as I thought I would, and to be fair, I didn't play FH4 as much either. I think it really comes down to the fact that they inundate you with stuff to do from the get-go, and it's just kinda like you don't have to earn anything. There's nothing to work towards.
Also, they should have waited a week or two to start the seasons. Let us get through the story content first. That felt a little unnecessary, to have all of the seasonal things kick off right from the start, when you're still trying to get your bearings.
U/thatexile, "..I played for about 45hrs.."
With statements like this, I honestly can't take the person serious. It's like the person who ate 90% of their meal, then complains, asking for a refund.
@oconnoclast Again, you're one of those people who don't understand that Odyssey is just a different experience and you confirmed that to me by comparing the game to Ghost of Tsushima, which doesn't set out to be like Odyssey at all. Ghost of Tsushima isn't about primarily exploration, it's about getting from point A to point B. On the other hand, Odyssey is more like Breath of the Wild, i.e. you're thrown in this massive open world and you're free to explore it however you wish. If you remove all of that from Odyssey, then it loses what it sets out to do.
Not every single open world game has to offer the exact same experience and I don't think you get that if you compare a game like Odyssey to Ghost of Tsushima. That's like comparing Breath of the Wild to GTA, they're not the same kind of experiences at all.
@oconnoclast It absolutely is about exploration and once again, you confirmed that you don't understand what the game sets out to do. Yes, it has objectives that you need to clear in order to progress through the story and finish the game, just like with BotW, but the main appeal is exploring the world. You explore the world, find new gear, acquire more skill points, discover secret areas and side quests and so on. You can basically play it however you wish, if you want to only explore you can do that, or if you want to follow the story you can do that. Yes it isn't 100% BotW, it has a stronger emphasis on the narrative, but it still has way more emphasis on exploration than most other open world games.
For some reason, I get the impression that open world exploration games simply don't exist in your mind. You think that there are open world games like Ghost of Tsushima, and then there are games like BotW and AC: Odyssey that are on the extreme end of the spectrum that should be dumbed down to become more like Ghost of Tsushima. That's like saying Metroidvania games are too open to be 2D platformers, they should all be more like 2D Mario instead of their own thing. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
"I played it for 45 hours and now I'm bored!" - maybe mix it up a little bit?
@oconnoclast I like how the arguments you used to prove that Odyssey isn't about exploration could also be used against BotW. You aren't required to explore in that game either, you can just follow the story if you want. Not to mention that BotW also starts you off with a narrative in order to establish its premise. All games that have stories will do that.
It honestly just sounds to me that you didn't like the story but instead of just saying that, you replied to me by saying that I didn't understand the main criticism of the game. I've literally heard so many people say that the map is too big, that there's too much padding and so on, but here you are telling me that I didn't hear all of that from those people. Because yes, when someone says that a game is "too big", they mean that the story was too long. Makes sense mate, thanks for this enriching discussion.
@SplooshDmg meanwhile Twitter actually had a decent Xbox story https://twitter.com/andyplaytonic/status/1464584159536586756?s=21
For me, I would engage with seasons more if they had a path that did not involve grouping or playing with real people. Have a solo path that allows you to hit max points and a multiplayer path.
@SplooshDmg I knew what you meant just wanted to spread good news
I'm still loving it, probably got at least 60 hours so far. I played horizon 4 from launch up to the day 5 came out. I probably probably played 4 about 3-4 times a week.
So I definitely disagree with lack of progression and the only reason some people have so much money is because they used that auto drive exploit which ruins the progression system completely.
Also the networking issue is known by playground games and they are working on a fix. It's only happening because in prior games you would only see 12 players on the entire map but in 5 you see significantly more. I don't know the number but I'd guess at least 50 if not more. So once they fix the bug there will be plenty of people and they won't vanish unless they do something like fast travel or quit.
@k3lt0n short? There's hundreds of hours of content here and that's not including the unlimited content from player created races and game modes.
@d0x3601 Didn’t say it was short. Go read my posts.
Well, coming from the "sim racing" side of the spectrum, I never agreed with "greatest racing game ever" declaration that many made. But I understand why mainstream outlets are saying it because it is easily accessible, has incredible landscapes, next-gen graphics & performance, fun arcade gameplay, and it greatly appeals to a very wide audience in the gaming hobby. I wouldn't argue that it might be the greatest "arcade racer" of all time. But, yeah...I personally spend exponentially more time playing other racing games.
I wouldn't say I'm bored, but I also am surprised by how I've done all the main stuff already. I'm already in the hall of fame and my map is littered with 'new' labels everywhere I look.
I've been doing the seasonal events, races and objectives to like give me a reason to play, and by doing them it helps complete the events I haven't done yet, so that's one way I play the game with a reason.
It's the first one I've played, so I'm loving it, about 40 hours in now. I do wish there was more of a sense of progression, though. It's total overkill the amount of icons appearing on the map in one go. The stories should be locked behind more progress at least, and the showcase events are just too few, I think getting to the Hall of Fame should be tougher, with greater reward, like a whole new series of events or something instead of just some more accolades.
the thing that bores me is the terrain, while varried its not nearly as fun to drive through as FH4... example i take my ford bronco and i can for the most part just hold the gas and go straight and not crash nearly as much as fh4, but the biggest broken part of this game is Arcade, i cant get one stage done as nobody is on or the online is busted and im just not getting into a server with people.
I don’t see how playing a game for 45 hours before getting bored is an issue. I’m probably on about 30 but just an hour or two a day, and having a brilliant time.
Still loving it, in the hof now and around lvl 110 and haven't gotten bored. I'm a car game nut, though. Give me a racing game and I'll play it for years but I've been playing other games, too. Hot Wheels, Metroid and a couple others. If you only play this game, I could see it getting boring. It's not setup like a Elderscrolls.
It's a racing game. If you get bored of it, play something else.
I don't understand the kids who are so bent on "the need to beat the game as soon as possible". Forza was never designed that way. You race a little bit, play another game, them come back to it. It's always been that laid back road trip game I always go back to. There's no "end goal". You unlock cars and drive em. If you need more depth in your game, or a "sense of progression", pick up an RPG.
I LOVE that one of the people who is "bored" has played for 45 hours lol 😆
It’s an arcadie racing game. It wouldn’t be as appealing if for the first 15 hours you’re stuck with a Golf GT. if you want realism and gradual progression get a PS5 an try Gran Turismo 7. You start off with a small amount of cash an have to buy a used car to start with, enter small events, do ya car up, save for another used car, enter slightly bigger events an go from there until ya can afford brand new Ferrari’s an wat not an enter big, pro races.
I'm sick of hearing about "progression" just play the game and have fun with it for crying out loud. Far too many these days just play a gane to death when it comes out and then moan about it, go play something else inbetween and keep it fresh. I've been playing Sega Rally for the best part of 30 years and it's only got 4 tracks yet I'm not bored with it
i have to be honest i haven't even started playing FH5 yet.
I think people can get bored in any video game, but racing games can especially be this way I think since so much of it is the same, driving.
its not encouraging to hear that Forza fans are getting bored already. i really hope playground games is hard at work on some kind of epic FH5 expansion that will keep the player base exited
I played heaps to join the hall of fame which entitles you to race online in the weekly Trials which I love. I feel reaching the hall of fame is the main campaign. After that the Seasonal Challenges are a diverse mix of online and offline and heaps of fun to unlock rare cars. And there's always drift tuning which is awesome. In other words I feel the progression is perfect but it did take me a while to work out how to play the game in a way that makes my experience feel like meaningful progression.
FH5 plays brilliantly and looks great even on XBOneX. Its probably the best playing and best feeling racing game I’ve played. But I do find it to get tedious. I’ve had really good fun with it but I can say I would rather have a story that progresses me through it. I’ve 100% finished FH1 3 different times. The last time being like four months ago. The story just pulls me through every time. It almost has the same problem for me that Elder Scrolls and Fallout has, its too open. I know times of people live that. But I find I have more fun when it’s a little bit more directed of an experience. Just my opinion. FH5 is a fantastic game in every regard and I hope it’s brining a lot of joy to those who really live it. But I’ll keep looking for something a bit more like the first.
Anyone who is bored with this game already is probably from a younger generation that have the attention span of a bird and just love rushing through everything just to get to their next addiction. Let them move on while the rest of us are still enjoying the game very much.
I get what they mean- since the races are set up to be equal regardless of what car you use it doesn’t really pay to have the most expensive tricked out car. However, I look at it as an opportunity to drive whatever I feel like instead of being shackled to whatever supercar is best.
For me the best Forza was the first, it had a actual story line and the progression was much better.
I love Forza Horizon 5, and I think I learnt to play it much better and much more efficient than Forza Horizon 4. I think I bought about 30 cars from the Car show and Market, but I already have 180 cars in the 28 hours I played it.
I feel like I almost finished the game in these 28 hours; opposed to 200 hours in Forza Horizon 4.
It’s the first horizon I’ve played and already deleted it. Not a bad game just not for me I much preferred motorsport 7 before it was taken off gp.
I've been playing it and enjoying it a lot. FH4 was my first open world racer so this one is lacking the novelty factor, but still really good. From what I've seen they've taken the winning formula from the fast few games and refined it even more. No radical changes, but just highly polished.
It's a fine series. It really is. But I've spent more time in various Ridge Racer games over the years. I really enjoy the zeppelin event in FH. What I don't enjoy is the fact the online co-op is still totally screwed so I'm doing them on my own. So for now at least, I'm not playing it.
So you can't play a game and enjoy it without getting a sticker?
GTFO!
Is this really an article pointing out that some people on Reddit don't like something?
I notice no articles about people complaining Metroid: Dread, R&C: Rift Apart, and Psychonauts 2 aren't too short. Weird.
Unlocking things is fun, but, it's a racing game. It lets you pick any race at any time. I'm not sure what anyone expected out of it. A circuit tournament? Doesn't it have that in the online mode with timed events?
Having just gotten a Series S, this game was my first Xbox game purchase since leaving the brand entirely for a long while.
Still loving it and pacing myself.
I think it's much better than fh4.
If doesn't have many locked events, you can play as you wish. The view and sights are much better.
I also didn't like right sided driving in fh4.
It is FH4 with most good things removed and with a new map. After completing everything it is boring because there really is no end game.
@BartoxTharglod Assassin's Creed has been terrible since after unity, more specifically when hardware caught up to unity which really wasn't until 2020 or 2021 if you played at 4k. It looks almost as good as a modern game and in many cases better.
Plus it's the game where they finally perfected parkour. Then Syndicate had the grapple so parkour was pointless. .
After that they decided they wanted to copy the Witcher 3 and so far they haven't come close. The last 4 games were the only ones I didnt finish.
I really hope ubi soft takes the series back to its true roots and if they wanna rip off Witcher then make w new series.
I mean unity had complex and well designed assassination missions and coop which was a blast with friends. Yeah it was buggy but it was also too ambitious for those consoles and even high end PC's couldn't max it out at 4.
Now the bugs have been fixed, the game is absolutely stunning, best parkour in the series, best assassination missions in the series.
That Fenyx Immortals Rising is also underated. Everyone should give that a try on PC or consoles.
