We heard again yesterday how 343 was well aware of the concerns surrounding the progression in Halo Infinite, and it seems the developer will be rolling out a small but signficant update very soon. This change should show up later today or at some point tomorrow, depending on your time zone.
343 community manager John Junyszek has issued a series of tweets outlining what to expect from this next update. Here it is in full:
"When we made our initial change to progression, which added Daily "Play 1 Game" Challenges, updated Weekly Challenges, and doubled the duration of 2XP Boosts, we promised that we'd monitor the data and make additional changes if needed. Now, it's time to follow up on that.
After seeing how XP was earned with those changes, we noticed that players were starting their sessions with slower payouts than we'd like. To address this, we will be increasing the XP payout for the first 6 matches of each day. An outline of this update can be found below:
1st Game = 300XP
2nd Game = 200XP
3rd Game = 200XP
4th Game = 100XP
5th Game = 100XP
6th Game = 100XP
7th+ Game = 50XPWe believe this increase will help address those slower initial payouts while also benefiting those of you jumping on each and every day.
We know many of you want even larger changes and we're committed to doing so, but those will take time. We made this update based on data and player feedback, and we'll monitor its impact after we push it live tomorrow morning. As always, keep sharing your feedback!"
As noted towards the end, "larger changes" are still on the way, but they're going to take some time. 343's Halo community director Brian Jarrard made similar comments about long-term changes last week.

This is great news imho. If they can add xp for match accomplisments/skills as too (for example 50xp for multikill etc.) that would be awesome as well.
This definitely helps those who can't play for extended sessions or those who can only play a few times a week.
Good work 343i, I like the commitment to feedback.
This is.... Really really good. Considering how short the time has been since release and these updates I'm impressed.
@pip_muzz They unfortunately have to be quick otherwise the upcoming Fortnite and Warzone maps will steal the playerbase.
@thenewguy
Why? I can see some extra XP for a match win happening.. but people are already playing slayer while in a CTF match.
This is great. Now you only have to play 6 matches each day for a BP Lvl.
@Ile Those people should be told, "Ohhhh, I don't know? Maybe just play the game. You don't need to get sticker for everything you do in life.".
Those kinds of people are annoying the hell of me.
Good, but this is merely a sideline for me. Where's the Team Slayer playlist online? I really only want to play modes like Capture the Flag with friends - not with random players.
@Grumblevolcano If those players leave then really is not big loss. That type of player has video game A. D. D. and will always go to the next new and shiny thing. You will never be able to keep them or keep them happy. Hope the door doesn't t hit them on way out.
Probably same type of player that needs a sticker for anything they do in life.
@Bartig I desperately want a Big Team Battle Slayer ONLY play list. For halo I despise objective based gameplay.
Slayer or nothing for me.
More concerning is the rampant growth of cheaters on the pc side, they should address this problem real soon, this is gonna ruin the game. And also enable the ability to turn off crossplay in casual play...
@GuyinPA75
Same here. Fiesta slayer is live now. I really don't mind oddball, king of the hill, or strongholds, but I ABHOR CTF. I will avoid objective lists just because they have that. Much prefer slayer and swat.
@GuyinPA75 Sadly this is the state of modern multiplayer gaming where it's not about having fun anymore but rather having a job which pays you cosmetics for your character. @Ile is spot on about what'll happen, people will finish the battle pass months before the end of Season 1 and complain that there's no point in playing because everything's unlocked.
@GuyinPA75 @eeeeyuke I basically just don't understand multiplayer gaming and the entire mindset that goes with it in general. Even back in the Quake 1 days it quickly became all about CTF for most people, and we're going back to the 90's here. So long ago the guy who invented it in games, Dave "Zoid" Kirsch (3Wave CTF mod for Q1) ended up going pro, working at id, then working at other places including a top position at Blizzard, then just retired! (I say invented it in games because CTF existed as a military training exercise prior, he just brought it into gaming.)
I've never really understood the "fun" in most CTF activities and the necessity to have basically team leadership etc making it all so srs.
Even Splatoon, the only online competitive game I really have got into since Q1 DM, and people are all about the ranked modes because they like the objective play (tower control, rainmaker (CTF by another name) being the most loved.) I just like Turf War. Interestingly the Japanese player base also mostly likes Turf War and splat zones which is basically king of the hill. So it's not universal, I just.....am apparently of a Japanese mindset and don't actually understand the western mind at all? And so are you.
@Grumblevolcano Depressing. But true. I don't get it, but it's true.
Well at least it's a start, I'm happy to hear that bigger changes are happening in the future..
They still need xp for a match win to incentivize players to focus on playing the game type correctly rather than just getting their pistol kills etc.
Still waiting for Warzone coming back.
I just wish they would reward you for playing well, it kinda sucks being the top player and carrying the whole team only to get net 50xp. That said they are listening and this change is very good. Just getting hyped for the campaign now.
As someone who sucks at shooting games, I appreciate objectives that don't require me to kill people lol.
