Star Wars Battlefront 2 endured such a crazy lifespan, starting out as one of the most lambasted releases of all time, and going on to totally right those wrongs and become one of the best Star Wars games in the history of the franchise.
Unfortunately, it sounds like we might be left waiting for Star Wars Battlefront 3 for quite some time, as according to known insider Tom Henderson, an internal pitch for the game was "shot down" by EA "due to licensing costs".
Henderson went on to explain that many key members of the Battlefront series have left developer DICE in the past year, which suggests a sequel to Battlefront 2 is highly unlikely at this point, at least for the foreseeable future.
However, he mentioned that EA is developing two Star Wars games, "but it appears that those titles are more story-driven/single-player instead of multiplayer". We're assuming one of those is a sequel to Respawn's Jedi: Fallen Order.
Ultimately, if you're a Battlefront fan, it sounds like you're going to have stick with Battlefront 2 for now. Fortunately, the game is in a great place these days, and it's accessible at no extra charge with EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Probably for the best. They've shown that Pandemic was the only studio that understood what Star Wars Battlefront was.
They should have shot down battlefield 2042
Dice can no longer be trusted
I loved battlefront II but like the battlefield games made by Dice the load times were nearly unbearable.
So happy to hear that the 2 games in process are Single Player/Story Driven games! There are enough Multiplayer/Online games already so this is great news!
Well EA would have known that licencing means a game needs to sell more. That would have been obvious when they signed the deal.
Either speculation or a change in leadership at EA.
I think more that the last few Dice games have struggled and they don't want to risk it from a fan pov. Disney probably stopped it
Well they ruined it by having Dice handle the games, they turned them into cheap Battlefield clones.
They weren't even really Battlefront games. They were more like Battlefield: Star Wars Edition.
Translation: we can't milk microtransactions from the consumers like thought we could. Let's just move on to another cash grab. Like c'mon man. We're EA, after all.
Fallen Order 2 please and thank you.
Shame, I really enjoyed the campaign & its DLC. Oh well. Need to finish the Fallen Order one though but finding it a little bit of a slog.
Battlefront can't count to 3
I preferred Battlefront 1 because it didn't have the class restrictions so I felt more like a frontline trooper. Also Heroes vs Villains hust felt better. Imo I thought BF2 was clunky and felt very meaty when running your characters around & less arcadey than SWBF 1. Also the tie in mobile game was great
