As you're probably well aware, Xbox announced back in late September that Xbox Cloud Gaming for consoles was rolling out to Xbox Insiders, and since then, more and more people have had a chance to try it for the first time.
The appeal, of course, is that it will allow you to play Xbox Game Pass titles without having to download them first, and in the case of 100GB games, that means you're going to have less waiting around and more time enjoying them.
This does come with potential drawbacks though. For one, we don't know exactly what the performance will be like when the feature rolls out to everyone, and those who have poor internet connections will unfortunately struggle with it by default. However, it's also going to be really useful for things like Microsoft Rewards, where you just want to play a game quickly to complete certain tasks without having to download the entire file ahead of time.
That's not to mention the big appeal of Xbox Cloud Gaming on console for Xbox One users, who (eventually) will get the ability to play Xbox Series X and S games like Microsoft Flight Simulator on their last-gen system through the power of the cloud. That's absolutely incredible, and will surely go down well with Xbox One owners.
So, with all of this in mind, how much are you planning to use Xbox Cloud Gaming on console, if at all? Tell us below.

Might use it just to try a game before downloading but won’t use it much unless they bring PC GamePass games that aren’t on console into the fold.
Honestly, it all comes down to how good is the performance where I live. I'll make a test, and if it doesn't work out, then that's that.
If it works as well as it currently does for mobile and pc then it'll be worthwhile but at launch it'll be temporamental at best, I think.
Doesn't really matter to me... I download games while i am at work so they are ready by the time i get home. NO real need to use this unless i want to just try a game out quick.
If I can use it for my reward points instead of down loading that God awful hunting game again I'm happy.
I doubt I will ever use it on console. I use it all the time on my laptop, and PC but I dont see a point to using it on my Series X.
Not at all, rather download and use the full power of the series x on an LG C1 that’s what I paid for and with GPU.
But I can see it’s use on console if you have good enough internet to quickly try a game out.
I need to try it first. My guess is that it will be really laggy and not worth my time at this point unfortunately
Cloud gaming is for my phone or tablet only IMO.
The introduced latency is too much. The whole point I got a 4K 120hz TV was to reduce it.
Prob just use it to give a game a quick try out to see if it's my kinda thing (worth doing with the bigger games, given my broadband is only 38 mbps at best).
If I like it, then I'll download.
Guess it might lead to me trying out a couple of games I wouldn't have bothered downloading.
I don't see myself using it due to lag. I tried xcloud before and it was a definitely not good. Also I don't even have a lan connection to my Xbox as the router is in another room lol
For me..
1. Playing whilst Downloading a game
2. reward points
3. "Testing" a game before commiting HDD
4. When PC games finally come to cloud.
I. Would love the Tetris Connected one on the cloud
Since I already have a Series X, I'll just use it to test games I am unsure about instead of downloading it.
Hey @frasergilbert if I'm not terrible at math, Famitsu shows Xbox SX just surpassed 100k consoles sold in Japan . Worse case, it surpasses 100k this week!!! https://www.gematsu.com/2021/10/famitsu-sales-9-27-21-10-3-21
I have absolutely no interest in streaming games on my Series S — but if I could get a cheap device, eg: a Raspberry Pi, to stream Xbox games with I'd be interested in putting it elsewhere in our home.
I'll be using it to try out games I'm not sure I want to download to my Series S. It seems to be the general consensus. I would definitely use it more though if I were still gaming on a base XBO.
I'll definitely be using it for the GPU quests and eventually when I'm looking for new games to play (confirmed backlog is massive) it will be a great way to try a game before downloading it. Bit if I'm looking at playing something I'll be downloading it.
Who knows, down the line maybe i will play some titles via cloud if they play properly and I'm looking at space on the SSD but currently I'll be downloading whatever I do decide is memory worthy.
I'll use it when there's a game I want to play and don't have the time to download.
I'd probably use it if it ever became available in my country. Doubt it will though.
Got to give it a trial run and see if it feels better than my mobile experience. If it’s smooth enough I might use it here and there to try a game without waiting for the download, decide if I want to dedicate the storage for it.
Interestingly, the most visually simple games that are likely to look the best on streaming are the ones that are also likely to be small enough to just install, though. Will find something to give it a trial run one of these days.
@abe_hikura same here and probably
5. When I inevitably run out of faster SSD storage
But really it depends how much of a downgrade it is and what type of game I’m playing.
@Tharsman Hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately the games that streaming is likely to work best on are also likely to be the smaller titles that you would likely just install quickly anyway.
The highest fidelity AAA games that are 50-150GB are the ones you are likely to want to show at their best by downloading.
But hopefully it will be good enough to test some of these larger titles without downloading. As you rightly said got to give it a trial run first. Haven't had the best experience on mobile or PC for faster titles so far.
Been playing Avengers on it as I don't have enough internal storage on my Series X at the moment. It plays great and saved me over a 100GB download.
Quite useful for Xbox One users and for Series X/S users that want to try games. The great thing about Game Pass (Ultimate) is that everything is included and you play the way you want.
@themightyant to be fair the feature would be a lot more front and center if I was still on any Xbox One model, or maybe (on some cases) with a Series S. Not satisfied with how some game performs natively on Series S but your internet is top notch? Then just stream the game.
Having lesser storage also amplifies that models need to be conservative with big downloads.
This again makes me feel the feature needs to expand to games that are digitally bought, not just games available in GamePass (even if streaming still required GPU to stream those purchased games.)
@Kilamanjaro Wow, 100,000 new-gen Xbox consoles sold in Japan. That's very interesting and significant.
EDIT: This is not a sarcastic comment and I dislike internet sarcasm.
@awp69 thats how im using it instead of dl and waiting on a game to find out you dont like it i just stream it, o if its a game like ORI one i dont play alot but from time to time jump in ill stream that instead of downloading it and storing using space up.
@themightyant from my experience in the alpha skip ahead its works way better on the series x then my android tablet...i can actually pitch in MLB the show streaming on the xbox but my android tablet its near impossible...
@Blessed_Koz Yes, I think it's going to work better on consoles connected via Ethernet than on mobile devices. It's a nice bonus for console players, I seldom play on mobile devices except 3DS or Switch Lite.
I tried out Avengers via streaming on my PC, and it seemed to work great. I assume I'd have a similar experience on my Xbox One too.
Considering how big some games are, and the limited space on my hard drive it could be a good way to try out without the time downloading. Though since you're able to queue downloads remotely if I wanted to play something then I'd just set it to do that while I'm away or not playing something.
For me the biggest draw of cloud would being able to play PC exclusive games on my low powered desktop, or games on mobile on the go. Though so far there's only console games on Cloud, and I've had awful results on mobile with input lag in the 1 second + range.
will be a godsend for Game Pass quests
It's something I'll use pretty often, but only to see whether a game is worth downloading or not. But it's a really handy way of checking out games without having to wait / clear hard-drive space.
I dont ever see myself using it to be honest..
@Tharsman Agreed. A greater boon for those on XBO and XSS
@Blessed_Koz That's good to hear! When it works streaming is great and you almost forget you are streaming for a while. But I've had pretty dire experiences with faster games like Halo and Forza Horizon 4 on both mobile and PC. Look forward to giving this a whirl when it comes to console.
@trev666 YES! GP Quests is my #1 thought for this. No more download a 50-100GB game juts to get +75 rewards
@Beermonkey My thoughts too in regards to rewards. Handy if it's a game I've not downloaded to quickly jump on and get them. I was using my laptop for this purpose previously.
Doesn't seem bad using cloud streaming on my laptop on that smaller screen but I did try it once on my desktop which is on my 70" and it looked horrendous blown up that big (500 mb/s connection through ethernet). Dunno if this was a one off. It'll maybe do just to quickly try stuff out without downloading at least.
@Lester_Bang have done a few from my phone. My laptop is a potato so struggles with anything other than browsing. Streaming to console will make such a difference. Can clear some of the regular reward point games from my HDD if they stream as well which is a bonus.
@BlueOcean lol well the more it sells there, the more likely we are to get more Japanese devs releasing on xCloud, Series SX and Game Pass. If you looked at sales for Xbone the past 2-3 years, Xbox numbers were an absolute joke.
I'll continue to download games up to around 60Gb, but anything bigger I'll be streaming to save space. Looking at you, GoW, Red Dead, ESO et al.
@Kilamanjaro I know that many people seem to be gloomy and sarcastic but I was being serious! I remember that Xbox One used to sell under 50 units per week in Japan 😂. The more Xbox in Japan the better, I also like Japanese games. 100,000 new Xboxes in Japan is impressive (no sarcasm)!
Depends on input latency and how the graphics hold up. If there is slow down and/or degradation.
@BlueOcean It really is a good amount for Japan, especially when Xbox One reportedly only sold 140,700 across it's lifetime in the territory, and Series S|X are still supply constrained.
More Japanese Xbox gamers means higher likelihood of more Japanese games on Xbox & Game Pass, which would be great!
@themightyant Right!
I've got no interest in streaming video games, I like to have my games downloaded or I am just not going to bother with them at all. I have never been one of those people who got upset over the loss of physical media, but I have my limits.
