Update (October 5): Despite some confusion surrounding Gonner2 and Tales of Vesperia over the past couple of days, Microsoft has formally confirmed today that the six titles below will leave Xbox Game Pass on October 15.
In addition, eight more games will be joining Xbox Game Pass between October 5 and 15.
Original story (October 3): Microsoft has unveiled the next set of six games that will be removed from Xbox Game Pass in the middle part of October 2021, arguably highlighted by the departure of Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition.
Here's the full list of games currently set to leave on or around October 15:
Date | Game | Platform |
October 15 | Gonner2 | Console, PC, Cloud |
October 15 | Heave Ho | PC |
October 15 | Katana Zero | Console, PC, Cloud |
October 15 | ScourgeBringer | Console, PC, Cloud |
October 15 | Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition | Console, PC, Cloud |
October 15 | The Swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse | PC |
As always, Xbox Game Pass members can get a discount of (at least) 20% on these titles before they're removed.

You probably could go through Tales of Vesperia rather fast in just two weeks, but that would mean a lot of playtime each day since the game is around 50 hours long.
To those who wonder if the game is worth playing or not, honestly, if this is the only game in the series you have access to (since most of them are on PlayStation systems) and you're interested in trying it out, then I'd say give it a go. But if you have other systems, then I highly recommend to just skip it and play the later Tales games instead. I'm currently playing through Tales of Xillia on the PS3 and it's so much better than Vesperia. Combat is better, the writing and voice acting are better, the game is more cinematic and it's in third-person now instead of having a fixed camera angle and so on.
Vesperia is still a decent experience but it definitely hasn't aged well in so many aspects.
Luckily nothing in this list that will pull me out of my backlog!
Katana Zero was one of my “GOTYs”. You can get through it in around 5 hours or less. Definitely worth a download on Gamepass if you haven’t played it yet!
Phew, nothing I planned on playing 🙏
Hey purexbox seems like your date on gonner 2 is wrong i use gamepass and it shows gonner 2 aready gone.
If you haven't played Vesperia, do it. Much better than the last several Tales games. Including Arise.
I wonder if tales of arise will be added soon considering ToV is being taken down and xbox recent push into the Japanese market.
@thenewguy well Arise is still selling good. Maybe in 6 months to year I think. Bandai is really good about cycling the games through. I think next up is most recent SAO Game.
Guess I gotta jump back into Katana Zero and beat it.
If you haven't already, try Katana Zero! One of my favourite indie games of all time!
And that's why I bought Vesperia in the last sales. It was just priced around 7 bucks. At this price, I took to get it in a safe place, juste in case it would leave the gamepass.
Glad I did that.
As for Katana, I didn't try it yet. So I will, just to see if I have to buy it, too.
Damn it got to prioritise Katana Zero.
Also glad I bought Vesperia in the sale like @Bobobiwan
Worst aspect of Game Pass is games leaving before you've played them!
@themightyant What is even worser is when you are playing the game and the they leave game pass
@Jacobpower True! Ha! They do offer a discount if you want to buy them, but it's not great.
There's a community run spreadsheet (linked below) that tracks when games arrived on GP and they're pretty good at predicting when games will leave too. It's useful for planning when to play games but it shouldn't be necessary.
It's a massive shame that this isn't displayed front and centre on the Game Pass screen on the Xbox and more warning was given that 0-15 days.

Ok I just did try Katana Zero and that game is an absolute masterpiece, in my book.
The game is pretty short, apprently, so I'll have time to finish it before it leaves, but I guess I'll buy it anyway, just to support the devs. With the little 20 % discount we get, the game is nearly ten bucks.
Very worth it, in my opinion !
@LtSarge @InterceptorAlpha It's funny how it's such a polarizing series, with two halves of the fandom represented like that. One side feels it's dated and ages poorly compared to more modern games, and one side feels that it's all been downhill since the classics. Not much unlike FF, I suppose.
@themightyant Yeah, that's one, possibly the only thing, that's better about PS Now, is it gives the dates up front unless it's an "indefinite" date (which often means semi-forever.)
@NEStalgia 100% They have to know when the contract is until, and I don't think anyone would mind if it wasn't 100% perfect and the dates sometimes changed if contracts were renegotiated or extended.
Microsoft have started doing this in the sales which is great but REALLY need to add it to Game Pass.
"Leaving Game Pass: 15 October 2021" would go a LONG way
@Bobobiwan @AFCC @Spiders I appreciate the tip on Katana Zero. Played it last night and it's absolutely brilliant. No idea what's going on yet though Thank you.
Everyone else: Don't sleep on it, 9 days is plenty to play it, HLTB gives it 5-7 hours for a playthrough.
@themightyant I'm so happy I had at least 1% influence in someone playing that amazing game! The songs are fire too
@AFCC don’t discredit yourself it was 33.33% lol
Soundtrack, gameplay and to a lesser extent story were amazing. Still not 100% sure it all makes much sense 😂
@themightyant 33.33 I'll take it
I thought story was super confusing until it wasn't and then I ended up thinking it was great!
I have a small instagram channel and I gave it a 9/10 cause I loved it so much!
@AFCC I didn’t love it quite AS much as you but I did enjoy it a hell of a lot. Prob 8/10.
Story ended on a cliffhanger which I’m not often a fan of. But I also felt like they thought it was cleverer than it actually was. (playing on the old amnesia trope) But their execution of the story was still well done. If written in chronological order it would fit on the back of a matchbook, but it held my attention.
Did you play The Messenger? Different but similar in a few ways. Also recommended.
@themightyant I really was a fan of the little girl and liked the switch in character later down the line! It was a fun experience and the story was elevated by the excellent gameplay!
I never played the Messenger! Is it on Gamepass?
P.S. Thanks for the like btw x)
Agreed! Really liked the dynamic between you and the kid. Didn’t think I would but she won me over
Re: The messenger Sadly It was but like Katana Zero it’s left now. Worth seeing if it’s cheap and adding to wish list. Slower to get going than KZ but really good.
P.S. you’re welcome 😂
