Big news! Xbox, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have announced today that Marvel's Avengers is officially coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, PC and cloud as soon as this Thursday, September 30.
This is described as the "complete Marvel’s Avengers experience", including all previously released free content — highlighted by the most recent War for Wakanda expansion which released back in August.
You'll get access to the most appropriate version of the game depending on whether you're playing on Xbox One, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, with the next-gen version benefiting from improved visuals, frame rates and load times.
A Quad XP event will also be taking place from September 30 to October 4 to help you level up your heroes quickly.
"We just launched our biggest expansion to date for Marvel’s Avengers – Black Panther: War for Wakanda. We’ve loved seeing your reactions to the new campaign, and today we’re excited to announce that we’re making the complete Marvel’s Avengers experience, including all previously released free content, available with Xbox Game Pass for PC, Console, and Cloud on September 30."
Will you be assembling with Marvel's Avengers on Xbox Game Pass? Let us know in the comments.

This is what I've been saying this game needed for awhile! I'll be finally checking it out.
Firstly this makes me think Square Enix acquisition might be true.
Secondly PLEASE STOP! I have too much in my backlog. I'm practically constipated.
Don't stop.
Keep em coming.
Yum
Can't say I'm fussed about jumping back in....maybe if there's some new achievements with the expansions?....even so not sure I can be arsed
I'm going to play the campaign at some point. I believe that the main campaign was supposed to be pretty good, just the end game and multiplayer was trash??
@Krzzystuff I enjoyed the campaign a lot. 😀
This is great news and exactly what the game needed especially the Xbox version with its awful playercount, shame there's no crossplay though. I won't be bothering with though as i already own it on PS4/PS5 have around 300 hours and counting on it (yes really) plus loads of skins what won't transfer over. Still this is great news and something i've wanted to happen for ages.
Finished the campaign including all free DLCs on PS5. I think the campaign was pretty neat to be fair.
Not going to bother with the multiplayer garbage but good for Crystal Dynamics, this will definitely boost the player base.
This makes good sense for both sides. I'll try it out.
Soooo....any word on ff7 remake Yet? Lol
@FriendlyOctopus don't know where you got the acquisition idea from but this game was also on playstation now a couple months ago.
Never played the game on playstation but now I have no reason not to play it as its on game pass, hopefully missions can be done solo
@FriendlyOctopus Would MS even be allowed to buy SE now? Like Disney after buying Fox i expect MS is now limited in what they can buy and can't buy. Avengers coming to Gamepass was going to happen regardless as it needed to happen, i expect Sony had a year of "exclusivity" in that it wasn't allowed on Gamepass for a year.
@FriendlyOctopus It does seem like Microsoft's relationship with Square Enix is very good now. First Outriders back in Spring and now this, on top of all the JRPGs like Dragon Quest XI and Octopath Traveler that they've put on Game Pass. Hopefully this is something that will continue because Square Enix is definitely a major contributor to Game Pass right now.
Hell yeah, been wanting to play this since I bought my Series S but I don't care about the multiplayer part
I'll finally try it out - was going to buy it on release last year but the Spider Man exclusive DLC put me firmly in the "nope not spending money to support getting less than other platforms" camp
Xbox will acquire crystal dynamics and announce it on Thursday (wishful thinking)
@LtSarge Relationships tend to be good when you throw a ton of money at it. Probably exactly what SE needs right now as well.
Had no plans to try this due to the reception it got critically and publicly, but that's exactly why I'll try it on GP. See it for myself and delete it if it doesn't grab my attention within the first 7 minutes.
@Chaudy SE own them though and have little reason to sell.
I'll dip into the single player, nothing I have heard about the MP has me interested.
I'll certainly give this a good go as I hear the campaign is pretty fun.
@WallyWest I know lol, I'm just day dreaming
@WallyWest I don't know, not a lawyer haha, I read somewhere that monopoly law wouldn't restrict MS buying Square Enix, but that's just what I read.
Not gonna debate it. Not an expert in that field.
I hope MS does buy Square, though. 😊 that'd be cool for gamepass
Been wanting to try this game for awhile now, looks like I don't have an excuse anymore.
@LtSarge Xbox did say the next studio they buy would be one they already have a good relationship with 😁 I'm gonna dare and dream it possible haha
@UltimateOtaku91 The rumours about them grabbing another studio, speculation that they would try get a Japanese studio, that's where I got my opinion from.
And opinion.
Mostly made in jest.
But that's where it came from, I guess.
Though to get more in depth I suppose it came from the inside of my head.
Where my brain is.
Where thoughts are made in the thinking factory of delights, though to be fair the manager has been on a sabbatical these past few months, frolicking away in the land of imagination. Heard he stabbed a unicorn and stole the king of depressions crown.
@FriendlyOctopus Nah I highly doubt Xbox acquiring Square. However, the relationship between Square and Xbox is stronger though. I just don't see Square alienating their relationship with Sony and Nintendo.
@Rafie You're probably right. I
I like to imagine though, haha.
@FriendlyOctopus It's all good. Still...do expect more content from them though. As soon as the timed exclusivity deals with Sony ends, we'll be seeing some of that FF7R action and other games.
@Rafie I can't wait! 😁 I need that final fantasy haha
Oh this is awesome! To bad with my back catalogue and what’s coming out over the next 3 months, I probably wont touch this until February.
It seems like the right move. Get some new players in I guess. Personally I’m not very interested in this and have plenty to play already. I’d only be interested in the single player and I just don’t think I can be bothered with it.
As shown by games such as Fallout 76, Game Pass seems to help Games as a Service games the most.
Nice! So glad I held of buying in the last sale. Been wanting to buy it for a while but didn’t want to risk it, really looking forward to it though!
@WallyWest
Avengers was only on PS Now for 3 months and only the PS4 version.
I imagine this is just a case of trying to keep the player count up as the PS version will get Spiderman soon whereas Xbox and PC will be left waiting for the next free character DLC.
Don't forget you can pre-load this with the Xbox mobile app (not the Game Pass one) if you want to be ready for Thursday.
Just hit the 'Download to Console' button.
It looks more and more likely that Xbox is going to acquire Crystal Dynamics.
I don’t do acquisition talk buuut. At best it would be CD not Square and wouldn’t come with the IP. There isn’t a difference between a studio and a whole company.
That said putting the game on GamePass is more akin to The Show on GP. (And I don’t think anyone thinks MS is buying Sony.)
I will give it a try. Love the tomb raider reboot.
Would never have bought it given the feedback but I'll be playing and checking it out myself this week.
What a lost opportunity with no online campaign co op. I'll check it out for a few minutes but won't put too much time in. Maybe they will get it right if there is a next time.
Might actually try it now - certainly wasn't intending to buy!
Oh awesome. I didn't want to buy this because I didn't want to play another monthly events time sink style game that I felt like I had to play because I paid money specifically for it. Now I can try out and hopefully enjoy the campaign and additional content at my leisure, guilt free
I've always said I wasn't touching this until it hit game pass.
Time to make good on that I reckon'.
@JohannVanDerSmut I'm one of those people!
I'll hang my head in shame now....
FFS I bought this on sale in July ahead of the War for Wakanda (forever) DLC. It wasn't really worth the money but I did want to play it being a Marvel fan. The disappointment would have been less if I hadn't had paid for it. Oh well that's game pass life I guess 🤣
@JohannVanDerSmut Sorry, I can't quite read what you said, my head being hung so low and whatnot 😂😂😂
I jest. I'm overly excited over the smallest information. Ultimately I end up disappointed haha
For free on gamepass I almost bought it last week for 30$ count me in.
Not really fussed about anything Marvel/Disney. I'll give it a try for the solo out of curiosity, just to see it. Spiderman + Miles was enough Marvel for the next 30 years for me.
@FraserG this will probably come very much in handy seeing as how the game's a spicy 140GB.
Upping the player base to 12.
Was waiting for the full game with all characters to release including Spider-Man to get this on discount on PS.
But this may have tempted me. Well played MS.
Microsoft could acquire the whole western division of SE, including crystal dynamics, there were rumours a time ago that they were looking to sell that part to Ubisoft, so if MS would close that deal, they would aquire some interesting IP, like Thief, Deus Ex and Tomraider.... which would be a nice addition for future projects, and the 'old' stuff would go nicely into gamepass.
@TheSilverFalcon Even if they don't, MS are pretty much covering most of the cost of them for the next few years I'd imagine - as I'd guess they're overpaying the running costs of Crystal Dynamics to get them working on Perfect Dark.
Does seem this game hurt Square financially so much they were very happy to basically hire CD out...
@JohannVanDerSmut Yep I suspect Sony's timed exclusive money, this Game Pass money and hiring out Crystal Dynamics are all about filling the hole.
At least they seem to have abandoned the worst of the mechanics for Guardians of the Galaxy - as if that fails too (although Square seems to often have crazy targets) I can see Eidos being hired out too lol - Deus Ex paid for by MS would be a good thing though
I shouldn't have bought the game when I did when i first got my S. now there's nothing special for me.
@JohannVanDerSmut that J's, I have been enjoying it. Stopped to play deaths door and back4blood
