Marvel's Avengers is trying really hard to remain relevant and keep an audience. You have to give Crystal Dynamics credit for sticking with it, and despite a generally mixed reception, we've found a lot of fun in the game. The team has now released an updated roadmap for the remainder of 2021, which promises tons of extra content on the horizon.
So, what's on the cards? It's all kicking off in September with various community activities such as unique missions. Carrying on into the Autumn and Winter period, previous events will be making a return along with the excitement of the game's first raid. It's based around the recent War for Wakanda expansion, tasking players to take down the villain Klaw.
There's also set to be a power level increase, some new enemy types, a tie in with the new Disney+ show Hawkeye and a reworked resource and gear upgrading system. There's quite a lot to look forward to!
One of the other exciting aspects is the addition of Spider-Man as a playable hero, but of course, will be exclusive to PlayStation players. It's unclear how this will work in the wider aspect of the game, but no doubt we'll hear more within the coming weeks.
If you haven't played the game yet, you can pick it up relatively cheap now. It has a huge free expansion, new heroes and tons more content than when it initially launched. If you're a Marvel fan, it's a pretty good time, despite its shortcomings.

Il probably give this a try when all content has been released
I'll give it a try if it eventually ends up on Game Pass.
But I went from someone who was buying it day one (I've liked many superhero games and loved Deus Ex) to never buying it due to the Spider Man issue.
It's one thing DLC to be free to one console, or exclusive (even timed) for the game itself - but was never going to support a game I was paying the same as PS players for a lesser product
@Widey85 Funny enough, I mentioned this exact thing on Push Square earlier today. It is also exactly the same as my stance on the game. I'll play it if it ever ends up on GamesPass, and MAY buy it if it is ever dirt cheap and Spiderman has been included (which won't happen!)...
@Fiendish-Beaver Yep I really hope whatever Sony paid them, it was enough to cover the cost of all the lost sales on other platforms.
It was a ridiculous move - if PS owners want to play the best version of Spider Man, they'll play the Insomniac games. So all it did was alienate other potential buyers - even if it had been paid for DLC for other platforms it would have been something.
It's like saying you can watch Avengers: Endgame, but if you're not on an LG TV you can't see Iron Man - quite rightly, ever other TV owner would say "screw you"
@Widey85 but you and everyone else paid the same for the base game which was the same on both versions, the dlc isn't proper dlc it's free updates and Sony have game rights to spiderman and probably funded his inclusion.
Also a game called starlink got an extra character (star fox) on the Nintendo switch version but no one kicked a fuss about that.
@JohannVanDerSmut yeah you have a point, I'd go as far as saying spiderman is probably the most popular marvel character.
@UltimateOtaku91 Not really comparable - the Starfox games aren't really popular outside of the Nintendo ecosystem I'd imagine, I didn't even know it had released on other platforms.
Whereas we're talking one of the biggest IPs of the last decade - the MCU - and one major character from the film series only being included for one platform.
If you're selling me Marvel's Avengers, I expect every main Avenger - as I said, it's like one TV or cinema brand having Iron Man / Hulk / Thor and the others not.
I'm sure Sony fans would have had similar complaints if one of those 3 hadn't been planned for their version - which would have at least been fair.
Paying the same for less is not fair - and I will not support any company that does that...
Put it this way, I'm still so annoyed by it I'm struggling to consider buying Guardians of the Galaxy (that and I fear Star Lord might be irritating as hell in it) - so that's possibly two games torpedoed by such a stupid PR move.
Groot or Rocket Raccoon being specific to a platform would be a similarly stupid move, and let's hope they've learnt their lesson from any platform-specific characters if they do want me (and others like me I imagine) to buy it
@Widey85 Crystal Dynamics head Scot Amos previously said that the character’s platform exclusivity is the result of “the relationship Sony and PlayStation have with Marvel,”
Its nothing to do with square enix, it's purely down to sonys rights with spiderman so rest assured that other marvel games will be the same unless they include spiderman. Only reason Nintendo got spiderman in the marvel ultimate alliance game is because they already had a deal in place for those games
@Widey85 also I agree with the star Lord statement, in the films he's funny but bearable as its not non stop, but I'm worried square will over do it with the comedy side
@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah but I think the point is you say to Sony either Spider Man isn't in it at all, or he's on all platforms.
Show a bit of damn backbone - and he didn't join the Avengers straight away so narratively they could cover it.
Instead it makes you wary to consider Square's games given their closeness to Sony, particularly from the green side - should I bother looking at this game, will it ever come to Xbox (and if so when), will it be optimised well for Xbox, will I be missing features etc.
I'm buying Life is Strange: True Colours as I'm a DONTNOD fan, so I can't say I'm staying aware from Square entirely - but it does mean I have to think twice before getting too excited about any new games they show, and look into the specifics first
@UltimateOtaku91 And yes Star Lord is my least favourite part of GotG, and if they make him too much of a comic it may end up with us all wishing we could mute him.
Hope they realise what the films did - many of the characters around him are funnier (and often more engaging), and stick to them while us "being" Star Lord makes him quieter so as not to break the immersion
@UltimateOtaku91 Also a game called starlink got an extra character (star fox) on the Nintendo switch version but no one kicked a fuss about that.
Because no one bought it for anything but the Switch, and they all of them paid about $5 for the game. 😅
But seriously:
Nintendo owns Starfox.
Sony does not own, nor do they have exclusive rights to Spiderman outside movies.
There are tons of mobile games with spider man in it, as well as the Nintendo Switch exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
Sony does have an exclusive on making games named Spider Man, and even that likely changed recently when Disney decided to open all their IPs for licensing without exclusivities.
Only reason Nintendo got spiderman in the marvel ultimate alliance game is because they already had a deal in place for those games
This is not true. Nintendo had zero to do with the older Ultimate Alliance games before MUA3. The previous games were by Activision, whom licensed tons of Marvel IPs before they decided to call it quits on anything that was not Call of Duty. Nintendo's game had no attachment to the previous entries that they could had leverage to force Spider Man into the game.
I’m not buying any lucasarts or anything related to lucas for similar reasons with the Indiana Jones game being exclusive and I’m sure you will all join me…..
Oh no that sounds ridiculous right…. And you all do too.
