We've had a very pleasant surprise today in the form of a brand-new Quake remaster for Game Pass on console, PC and cloud, but we've also had two other Quake games join Game Pass for PC exclusively.
Those two games are Quake 2 and Quake 3: Arena, with the difference being that they are the original versions of those games, and haven't been touched up whatsoever. If you've never played them, here's a bit of brief:
Quake (Enhanced): Console, PC, Cloud
Developed by the award-winning id Software, Quake® is the ground-breaking, original dark fantasy first-person shooter that inspires today’s retro-style FPS games. Now, experience the authentic, updated, and visually enhanced version of the original.
Quake 2: PC
Originally released by id Software in 1997, Quake® II is a fast-paced sci-fi first-person shooter. Outnumbered, alone and behind enemy lines you must destroy the Strogg defenses and assassinate their commander before they can attack Earth.
Quake 3: PC
Originally released by id Software in 1999, and powered by id Tech 3, Quake® III Arena is a fast-paced, competitive arena shooter where you are only as good as your reflexes.
All of these games are available to download right now with Xbox Game Pass, or you can purchase them separately via the Microsoft Store if you want to. There's no word on whether the Xbox 360 versions of Quake 2 and Quake 3: Arena (Quake Arena Arcade) will eventually make their way to Game Pass for console, but we're not counting on it!
Which of these will you be downloading with Xbox Game Pass? Let us know in the comments below.

***** YEAH I I will be downloading it. So many great memories playing Quake back in the day and one of my favorite FPS of all time.
Does Quake 2 contain the two expansion packs on Game Pass, or is it better to get the complete version from Steam or Gog ( sorry, not got access to my laptop right now to check)
Why not all on Xbox consoles? And Quake 4 needs to be BC.
@SplooshDmg That scene still freaks me out.
It's a real shame the Xbox 360 version of Quake III: Arena isn't being made available. I've been looking for an arena game with both local co-op and deathmatch that approaches the level of customization that Perfect Dark had, and despite its failings Quake III: Area might have worked.
Pleeeeeaase can someone revive the Rocket Arena 3 mod I loved that back in the day.
@TuckNorris85 I bought it on Steam for the RTX mod. It's incredible. Not sure it'd work on this version.
@everynowandben my graphics card can't do ray tracing so that mod wouldn't work on the steam version for me lol. It doesn't look like the game pass version has the expansion packs though.
Had a quick go on the original last night though, god it was a good game.
@Selidor We have Quake Arena Arcade, but Q3A would also be nice.
